Yes, representation for British Asian artists remains limited in 2026.
Only 12% of ethnic minority musicians have earned as musicians for over 30 years, compared to the overall 25%. Many believed that there is a lack of representation by role models as a key barrier to achieving a music career. Despite the success of many South Asian acts like M.I.A and Jay Sean in the 2000s, two-thirds of South Asian artists and music industry professionals in the UK still feel poorly represented.
With the help of different organisations around Britain, like @esea_music@asiantones@dialledin_@bbcasiannetwork@easternmargins (just to name a few out of the many amazing organisations out there), there have been increasing resources and visibility given to Asian artists and creatives. But, it’s not enough, especially a platform that connects them with the mainstream Asian publics, that connects the creatives with you here.
Ears and Eats is here to change that. We provide a platform for Asian artists, using food as a way to connect communities and celebrate culture. Discover the Asian voices shaping Britain’s music scene.

Churmur’s Chaat Social with Ears & Eats 16/4 ☕️
What’s your go-to order at an Indian restaurant? 🇮🇳
Last night made us rethink that question.
From the first bite to the last, Churmur brought a spread of chaat that went beyond what most of us recognise as “Indian food”. Something that is rooted in memories of East India, layered with flavour, heat, and texture.
Thank you to everyone who came through and filled the room at @albacaffelondon at @whitechapelgallery for the energy, the openness, and the conversations shared across the table.
From plates of puchka being ordered at every table to the ghugni that quickly became a crowd favourite, every dish had its moment. But what stayed with us most was hearing Vatsala speak about the stories behind the food, the ingredients, and the origins that often go untold.
Because it’s not just about how it tastes, but where it comes from.
If you missed it, Churmur will be back next Thursday at @albacaffelondon
More soon from Ears & Eats, as we continue exploring and sharing stories across Asian cultures.

Why a Chaat Social in London?
Listen to @churmur.london founder Vatsala — it’ll all make sense.
Chaat isn’t just food. It’s chaos, nostalgia, crunch, spice, tang, and everything in between — the kind of eating that’s meant to be shared, standing up, talking over each other, going back for “just one more.”
So we’re bringing that (much needed) energy from the streets of India to London!
So excited to be collaborating with @ears.n.eats and @riyaofficialmusic — who will be adding a whole new sensory layer of music to one of the most loved street food traditions from India.
We’ll be at @albacaffelondon on 16th & 23rd April.
Come by, hang out, eat well.
