One month to go till Kapil hits the stage with us for his DEBUT London headline show! We're back with our friends at The Social in Oxford Circus, where Kapil will be bringing bold, rhythm-driven, guitar-led music that reimagines classical South Asian sound through a contemporary, urban lens. ๐Ÿ—“ Thurs 28th May ๐Ÿ“ The Social, London ๐ŸŽŸ SeeTickets or DICE (link in bio) The British-Tamil guitarist and songwriter reshaping South Asian classical music for a new generation. Drawing from Carnatic Indian classical traditions, UK electronic music, and guitar-led club culture, his work sits somewhere between the discipline of raga and the energy of the dancefloor. Known for his distinctive use of gamakas on electric guitar, Kapil creates music that feels rooted, physical, and forward-looking โ€” made for listeners raised between cultures. For Fans Of: Yussef Dayes / Talvin Singh / Mdou Moctar PS. Kapil's on the search for an opener, maybe it's you? Check out his last post for more info. . #LiveMusic #LondonMusic #Guitar #Gig #Carnatic

I am so incredibly delighted to be bringing these two phenomenal ladies, Tara Lily and Shalini Rani, to our collaborative show with @southbankcentre as part of their #SouthAsianSounds week. Tara Lily: Immersed in the vibrant sounds of her multicultural surroundings, she absorbed everything from jazz and electronica to alternative R&B and classical Indian soundscapes. This rich tapestry of influences, paired with her deep musical insight, vulnerability, and strength, forms the foundation of a sound that is entirely her own. Shalini Rani: A self-taught musician, Rani has shaped her own distinct sound, brought to life with her six-piece jazz band. She is also an avid advocate for vulnerability, authenticity, and greater representation for women and British South Asian voices in the music industry. Tickets are now on sale! See SCโ€™s website for more details and to explore the full programme: /events/south-asian-sounds/

Through her conversation with us, Naomi unravels the heartfelt meaning behind her soulful Sylvia Plath-inspired debut album and what it means to be โ€œa girl in processโ€. Deeply influenced by gospel, โ€˜80โ€™s pop and the alt-pop heroes of her youth, the album fully represents her, both as an exciting, informed musician, and an inquisitive, empathetic mind. The artist talks to Asian Tones about feeling isolated with their half Asian identity, to embracing independence and breaking that mould a result of their self discovery after performing solo across the country. Miss Gritt is fearless experimentalist known for sculptural textures that blur analogue and digital, guitar and synth. Their acclaimed 2023 debut 'Follow the Cyborg' imagined a futuristic, non-human search for liberation beyond gender and genre binaries. On its follow-up, however, Sohn powers down the android and turns inward. 'Under My Umbrella' reveals the Korean-American artistโ€™s internal world, tracing anxiety, heartbreak, and self-reckoning from the past two years.
