This restoration of Ton de Leeuw’s work is the first part of the Dutch Oscillation Series, a project that aims to bring cultural heritage back to life by making electronic music that has been hidden away for years accessible to everyone again. Find out more about the project and the crowdfunding campaign via @earlabs . Gaudeamus has been supporting young composers since 1945, and the organization was consequently closely involved in the first experiments with electronics in the 1950s and 1960s. In collaboration with record label @movingfurniturerecords and composer Jos Smolders @earlabs , this year we are paying tribute to Dutch pioneers of electronic music so make sure to check out the album presentation at Gaudeamus Festival 2026!

A project that I have been working on since 2024 is finally resulting in a first publication. It's a series of composer portraits that I produce together with Sietse van Erve of Moving Furniture Records. The series is called the Dutch Oscillation Series and its first release will be the complete electronic works of Ton de Leeuw in a stunning limited edition 4LP / 2CD box. This project was started after my many restoration works for international releases. I restored works from France, Germany, Belgium, United States, Romania and Unitied Kingdom. I noticed that never a Dutch composer reached my desk. So I started doing research and noticed that, aside from Boerman and Raaijmakers, the music of almost all Dutch composers of electronic music is kept in dark archives. No one knows it, knows about it, let alone heard it in 50, sometimes 75 years. Now we are digitizing and restoring the old works and bringing to the public again. It's a labor of love and we still need more funding, so I hope you will jump in when, later this week, we launch a crowdfunder.

Most of my clients are satisfied with my work as a restoration engineer. Sometimes, though, you receive praise from the composers themselves. This is what they wrote: "have listened to your XXXX rendition. It is a marvelous job; clean, free of artifacts, free of noise even in the quietist sections (and some are very, very quiet), beautiful frequency response in all areas. In fact I can't see anything at all wrong with it. We're very happy with it. I would make the same exact comments for your ZZZZ Beautifully done. Better than I have ever heard either work. Goosebumps. Much of the additional material, never seen on any of the previous releases, gives an added reason why one would want to purchase them or listen to them, along with a superior audio (thanks, Jos) which is better and more true to the composers' intent than any of the other releases." #masteredatearlabs #proudmastering

Are you a composer who lives and studies in the Netherlands? Produce a short electronic work that is inspired by the classical electronic era. This year, Gaudeamus Festival presents works of two Dutch electronic pioneers. Ton de Leeuw and Luctor Ponse were a strong presence in the early days (50s-70s) of Dutch electronic music production. Later this year retrospective albums of their electronic catalog will be released. Gaudeamus Festival presents an evening where the original works, fully restored and remastered, will be presented in a quadraphonic setup. This evening we also want to present two reflections on the classic works, composed by contemporary and upcoming composers. We want to invite you to compose an electronic work that is inspired by the works of either Ton de Leeuw or Luctor Ponse. After your work is selected it will be presented during the festival. Two works will be presented. Please keep in mind that: * The work can be no longer than 5 minutes * The work can be presented in a multichannel/ambisonic format (this is not mandatory, though) * Your work must show inspiration from the works of the classical era Jury members will be: Jos Smolders (EARLabs), artistic director Martijn Buser and curator Christina Patsa (Gaudeamus). Jury selection is irrevocable. What do we offer? * travel is covered * per diem (if food and drinks are not offered on location) * a passe-partout for the Gaudeamus Festival LINK IN BIO @opencallforartists_ @opencallfinder @opencalls_ #opencallforartists #opencallformusic #electronicmusicproducer #vintageelectronicmusic

Thank you Michael J Schumacher ( @instantmijosc ) for presenting my work Textuur 4 at NYU last weekend. This was a special 12-channel rendition of Textuur 4 that was originally premiered at GRM in 2024. Pic does not represent the New York setup, btw ;)
