Today is such a special day for lots of reasons ! It is my beautiful it’s my friend @soyagram Birthday ! We met through love of dance ! We also share a great sense of humor 🤣! I just learned that today is International Dance Day from @smacmccreanor who also gives me endless laughs and inspo 🙏🏼! Shes Aussie nbd ! It was so hot today ! Like 92%!!! I love the heat ! I feel most at home in the heat & swim suit ! So it felt kismet to share this clip dancing @zoukmx 2024 ! This is a dance with @ulisses_med my awesome friend , who happens to be Aussie NBD 🙌🏼!! I love you ! 💕 We recorded another dance later in the night that captures me more at ease and in flow ! I think it’s fun to witness the process bc I of course got supper nervous as soon as the camera went on . Tho it was my idea ! Thank @angela_tash7 🙏🏼 🎥 Reasons I ask to film dances … ps I put letters by them but there is no order to this ! Lol just thoughts in my head 🫶🏻 I ask myself lots of questions about this and everything so I thought I wouldn’t also share my answers 💋 A. It helps me see what my body is doing (totally judgment free 😛of course ) & that helps with alignment. Y. I want to be sooo comfortable with myself that the camera won’t make a huge difference in the long run. I won’t tense my body and break the flow ( partners really help so thank you for grounding & breathing with me ) it’s like a life lesson of meditation and self love having awareness of outside forces like a camera & still being at ease internally. C. To remember beautiful moments even tho the best ones are in my head and body. Z. To capture my earrings doing what they do best ! They were created to move , celebrate, create and reflect 🪞🪩the joy ,fun & beauty of the human wearing them. G. Often the partner in the dance is also happy for a memory from the event. I know we all get soo caught up in dancing that I feels hard to stop and make an intentional memory but it’s a nice momento for times like this ! Celebrating life ! X. This is the anniversary of the first fashion show we did at Sunday Love DC for Earth Day 🌏 Back in 2022. I never made a full post about it—honestly, it was a lot of work and so much joy all at once. Afterward, I felt what Brené Brown calls a “vulnerability hangover” / victory hangover That feeling that comes after you put yourself fully out there and it goes well . I used to feel that every time I shared my earrings. Then I started partner dancing—and suddenly that fear had competition. My earrings became something different… a source of comfort, a way to ground myself in rooms that felt big and new. Because of the people who showed up. The ones who supported, encouraged, witnessed. This moment was a lot. And I’m really proud of it. Thank you to everyone who helped make this fashion show happen 💛🌏 Such a beautiful memory ! I hand-make every pair of Ear Candie earrings using recycled, thrifted, gifted, and donated materials. I especially love working with active fabrics—think swimsuits and workout gear—giving new life to materials made to move. My work is inspired by nature and the fantastical—seaweed, bioluminescence, leaves, feathers, mermaids, and fairies. I set out to create fun, lightweight, vibrant earrings you can dance, swim, and sweat in. Some people have even been known to fall asleep in them! Ear Candie has been embraced in a big way here in DC and has also traveled internationally, finding homes and ears all over the world!
