Say hello to the team at The Ealing Beaver Project! The UK's only fully accessible urban beaver project 🦫
The Ealing Beaver Project was born out of a vision to reintroduce beavers to an urban setting, enhancing biodiversity and engaging the community in wildlife conservation. Our mission is to create a sustainable environment where humans and beavers can thrive together, enriching the local ecosystem
As you can also see, we are made up of several brilliant organisations collaborating together to make all this happen. So please visit their pages and see their work too:

Huge news! Our brilliant team of Freshwater Watch volunteers at the Ealing Beaver Project today discovered a juvenile Stickleback in the main lagoon at Paradise Fields. We’ve been recording more and more life there since the Beavers arrived, improving the habitat, including improving the water quality with their dams acting as complex wetland filtration systems, opening up the waterside canopy to allow light to flood in, boosting algae and plant growth to reduce nutrient levels and kickstarting food webs from the bottom up. For example nitrate levels entering site today were 2-5, nitrate levels exiting site were less than 0.2. Life is blooming there.
We always said it may be only a matter of time before fish reappear, and now they have! So exciting to see. Now the big question, where do random fish just appear from? Well, surprisingly they usually get brought in as sticky eggs on the feet or feathers of birds like ducks, Moorhens, Coots or Herons. And if conditions are good and there’s a girl fish, and a boy fish who meet….well you know the rest! 👌🏼💚😂
Big thanks to all of our fantastic volunteers including Alex Worsey @wildurbanhkl for these fab photos! Expect more Kingfisher sightings in time.

What can beavers teach us about climate resilience? 🦫
This weekend, we spent the day at @ealingbeaverproject , London’s first fully accessible urban beaver reintroduction site, alongside @youngwilders and an amazing group of young people curious about nature, biodiversity and green skills.
Through pond dipping, bioblitzing and exploring the landscape, we learned how beavers reshape ecosystems, support flood resilience and create habitats that allow wildlife to thrive.
But the day was also about something bigger.
It was about reconnecting people to nature in a practical, grounded way. About showing that green skills don’t only exist in classrooms or corporate sustainability jobs, that they exist in restoration, mapping, education, organising, observation, care and community.
As the climate crisis deepens, projects like this remind us that nature restoration is people work too.
Thank you to everyone who joined us 🌱

Been sitting on this a while, but delighted to finally share some extra content I presented for Sir David Attenborough's Wild London. It just aired in Japan yesterday (I know!) to mark his 100th birthday so I'm now allowed to share online.
It was a real honour to work on the production and alongside the man himself as wildlife consultant, and even more thrilling to be asked to present bonus short films that the Japanese network requested to accompany their version of the documentary.
I didn't have 'Attenborough adjacent wildlife presenter' on my 2025 bingo card but here we are!
Big thanks to @passionpicturesfilms and @sharmila.choudhury@the_long_man for the opportunity!
Here’s the story of @ealingbeaverproject , more to come later this week.

So nice, we had to do it twice.
1/ Gunnersbury Park & Museum: One of our favourite afternoon's out! 🌳
2/ Ealing Beaver Project: Why not take yourself on a self-guided tour of Paradise Fields in Greenford? 🦫
3/ ActOne Cinema: In the middle of Acton High Street, check out the latest film over the weekend 🍿
4/ Library of Things: Sooo much stuff to rent here, maybe take a frisbee to the park?

Today I was delighted to lead on two events for @citnatchallenge down @ealingbeaverproject with help from @ealingwildlifegroup and some great guests and volunteers. We did a BioBlitz and recorded as many species of plant and animal we could find at Paradise Fields using @inaturalistorg app to log our data. A great intro to the importance of biological recording! #citynaturechallenge #conservation #biology #data #nature
Our First Walk of the Year, and it’s a BIG one!
London has a wild beaver family living in urban Greenford, and we’re going to explore their incredible habitat at Paradise Fields! See the dams they’ve built, the wetlands they’ve created, and the wildlife they’ve attracted, last month alone we recorded 33 species of birds including red kite, buzzard, kestrel and reed warbler!
We’ll then head through the Grand Union Canal to Horsenden Hill, finishing at Horsenden Farm for lunch.
Urban rewilding at its finest, sign up link in bio!
For this year’s Earth Day, we’ve been on a mission to meet some of London’s urban eco heroes 🌎 In episode 2, @oliviamorelli pays a visit to the @ealingbeaverproject to meet with @thatvetsean and @senizdoesnature and let's just say you might be surprised when you hear about the many benefits of living alongside beavers! Read more at the link in bio.
If you're inside on Earth Day, get outside for Beaver Sunday! 💫 (Happy Earth Day too 🌍)
Can't wait for this one - a very relaxed afternoon in the sun with the amazing @ealingbeaverproject and @peoplesark 🐞
Please see all info in our eventbrite and sign yourselves up!! Going to be so fun. DM us if you have any questions.
Meet Şeniz - the UK’s first Urban Beaver Officer🌿🐾
On Earth Day today, we’re highlighting a University of Brighton Ecology and Conservation graduate bringing beavers back into the heart of London - and building a career around the idea that cities and nature can work together! 🌱🌍
Şeniz is based at the @ealingbeaverproject in West London, where she’s helping lead the transformation of a 10-hectare site into a thriving wetland. Flood risk is being reduced, biodiversity is returning, and water quality is improving - all thanks to the beavers. 🦫✨
Her work sits between ecology and community - monitoring environmental change while also leading walks, safaris and public events that bring thousands of people into direct contact with urban wildlife.
For Şeniz, it’s about showing what she believes in: that nature isn’t separate from city life - it’s part of it 💙
