Happy convergence day! 🌞 We’re super stoked to have everyone join us in the yard at @groundedalldaycafe for a day of community, creativity, and connection! We will be doing a raffle for $50 gift card to Grounded All Day that they graciously donated to help us offset some costs for the event! We will have a donation booth set up on the corner for donations to @thenestlex , convergence, and for folks to enter the 🎟️ We’ve also included some drink specials that will be available! Celebrating 2 years since publishing my debut poetry book ‘Journey to You’ !! ‘Journey to You’ is an ekphrastic poetry book, that integrates poetry with photographs and drawings, to different songs. It features photographs, drawings, summaries/forewords and editing by @prettydecentpicturesco @althealienart @yourcinnamonappel and @greatbatchofcookies and I’m so grateful for all their help In making something special to me come alive! (There will be more, this is a warning) I wrote many of these poems at a dark place in my life, many of them when I felt like I was coming out of it, and the dance between the two. The whole experience of writing a book and sharing it was very cathartic, as it helped me process a lot of feelings and experiences I had buried. It was (and still is) terrifying to share deep parts of yourself. But, It is a reflection of the human experience; love, hurt, grief, hope and everything in between. My feelings and experiences continue to be a muse for creation and the act of expressing oneself fully is very important for me, especially when traditional ways can be difficult. I find solace in writing and creating in general; even when it’s stupid or cringe or “not good” I feel a bit more connected to myself and the world around me, which can a diamond in the rough Enjoy this video that was shot and edited by the GOAT @prettydecentpicturesco thank you for being a great friend and creative partner, my homie dood! April is just flying right on by! Time is a thief… what a little bastard. I reckon this is week 4 of posting poems for national poetry month! I totally fucked up and let the day slip away from me; I had this idea in my head for an earth day related poem that I’d written in my book… I ran out of daylight and I resisted at first; but then I figured I’d just surrender to the night sky and create something new. Spring Convergence schedule just came out of the oven! We’ve got your hour by hour schedule planned out for Sunday May 3rd. Included, we have all of the people helping make this day come together! Check out the teachers, instructors, vendors, and artists that will joining us, and give them a follow! This is your community! Our goal is to try and make this event and space as inclusive and assessable as possible. The yard at @groundedalldaycafe perfect for this as it allows plenty of room for people to engage in all of the activities we have to offer, all experience levels welcome. This is kid and pet friendly, and flow toys encouraged. Word on the street is there might be a lollipop 🍭 brought out courtesy of @lostfoundlex .. but what do we know?! As always, this is a free event, but donations are encouraged! We will be partnering with @arabesqueworlddance and @thenestlex for our donation drive and will share more on all of that very soon, as well as our teacher, instructor, vendor, and artist highlights. Testing out a new mic for week 3 of national poetry month! I’ve been wanting to get a mic for a while now and couldn’t pass up the $20 Walmart phone mic. It’ll do donkey, it’ll do Wrote this poem at a time where (from other, many times) where life feels heavy or unbearable or confusing and what life means to me or what I want that to look like.. to serve as a reminder when those feelings come back again. I want to to think these feelings are because of my age but I believe this is a feeling that will come and go throughout the entirety of life. So, I hope this resonates with ya. We take this shit too seriously and that rigidness is what will suck the beauty right out in front of your eyes and from your heart. I might fuck around and flirt with life today with the hope she flirts back. As the quote someone shared with me from a women’s bathroom wall on Wednesday says, “don’t care what anyone else thinks. Spring convergence is just around the corner and we’re pumped to be back playing outside at @groundedalldaycafe !! It’s such a beautiful space for the community to gather and to enjoy a day together through music, art, wellness, and movement. We will have the same offerings as usual! A FREE community event with Diverse DJ sets, the community art space, workshops, yoga, art and wellness vendors, and a local donation drive! Each event we try and recruit new people from the community or surrounded areas to give people a chance to show their talents and skills. So, we are extremely stoked to have some new people on board for spring convergence :) If you’re interested in vending, teaching, instructing, or performing, please reach out with what you have to offer! We will still have a fall and winter convergence, and potentially some smaller events for networking. We will post more information as the days come featuring the amazing people who are helping make this event so special!
