Gratitude Day 4: CHOSEN FAMILY/SOUL PEOPLE- you can’t choose your birth fam but you can choose who to call your chosen family. I’m a big believer in the friend fam and soul mates. Some people are nearby and I see them every day, some only see every few years. I’ve known some since I was a little shit in Florida, some since college and most as I’ve made Washington my home. They’ve been my safety net, my backbone, my ride or dies and they always will be. I fucking love you guys.

Today marks 6 months since Garret passed on. So, I asked myself what would Garret do? And went n skied pow w my friends <3 did a backy for brobro too What did Garret mean to me, and to so many or us? Well, Kirsten met Garret when I was a freshman in high school. In my first dark phase of life, he showed me that the mountains could be my church, a place to go when the human experience feels broken and a fresh perspective is to be gained. Garret and Kirst became the perfect mountain mentors to balance my young, stoked filled mind. Garret carefully learned, practiced, failed, repeated, until he become a jedi of the mountains, and I took notes.   Not only did Garret show me a way of life in the mountains, he paved the way for how I should show up in the world. To be kind, genuine, humble, hardworking, spontaneous, to share a smile with strangers, to dance like no one’s watching. To chase your dreams. To love hard and lead with your heart. Follow what you are passionate about. Craft a life you are proud of living.   But this is just my experience. We all sit here with a voluminous memory bank so rich and full of Garret, that even Hermione’s magical purse would be overflowing. The expansive network of humans Garret had an impact on is a testament to how incredible of a person he was. If there is anything that brings me peace, it’s knowing that Garret fit a radiant lifetime into a timeline cut short. He flew planes, raced cars, started businesses, and created many beautiful films. Kirst and him built Laconia, one of the most incredible community hubs for the Pass. He skied pow on many classic lines and learned to paraglide. In a crescendo only fit to be Garret’s, Kirst and him brought beautiful little Felsen into this world. He fit more into a short life than many fit into a long one. And wow, was it incredible. I think Garret would want us all to see the light in this, to celebrate how special, how beautiful, how fucking awesome his life was. To bring him along on our adventures. Remember him often, talk about him often. Ask ourselves, what would Garret do? Cheers to G, and to keeping that redhead Garret energy burning bright. 💜💜💜 @garretvs 🧡🧡🧡

We’re beyond excited to introduce the new Blanket Glacier Chalet logo! Collaborating with @e21 has been an absolute dream, and we’re stoked to finally share what we came up with. Our goal? A) Move on from the last design (which, kinda looks like steaming poo). B) Capture the iconic Blanket of snow that surrounds the A-frame. C) Keep it simple, yet add a few fun twists—like a nod to the legendary #EhFrame. So, what do you think? Did we nail it

My first experience on a guided AND catered hut trip @blanketglacierchalet with @capowguiding was incredible! I forgot how much energy goes into all of the planning of trips like this with risk assessment, terrain selection, staying in tune with local snowpack, meal planning, and taking the time to organize everyone, it was nice to show up and have things ready to go. @peterforscale and I thoroughly enjoyed checking out for the week to walk around the woods and make some turns with @k2.skis & @lineskis friends in shockingly good ski conditions despite the recent “rain of terror” events and warm up in the PNW. Would 100% come back to the Blanket and already can’t wait for that day to come! Amazing terrain, meals, and even better company. Here are some little clips from the trip, though I was trying to enjoy the wilderness experience and not worry too much about capturing things on my phone…enjoy!

I turned 43 this week. I sometimes fret over the creases forming on my face and hands, and the aches that settle in my knees. But then I remember they are there in part because I’m fucking LIVING a really rad life full of really rad people. In my 43rd year I experienced so much change, the loss of my soul dog Roscoe, the trip of a lifetime with amazing friends, the best love from @one_short_life , my girlfriends being boss babes, a new job, and so much more than can be seen in 10 measly photos. Thanks for these memories and so many others that aren’t shown here. My life is good. It’s challenging. It’s full of growth. I feel strong, I have purpose and I have the best friends in the world. And also a really cute meat monster names Hans ❤️

I was going to finally post about breaking my arm (again) but now it’s almost better so instead I’ll just show you what the last month or so have been filled with: family, friends, hiking, zebbie dog, and mtb things that don’t involve me riding… not pictured: tears, doctors appts, light duty work… happy to be on the tail end of this injury 😄

End. Of. An. Era! A few weeks ago I accepted a position with @nukeproofbikes as their North American Brand Manager. I’m excited to work with a company steeped in mountain bike heritage and see what kind of magic we can create on this side of the pond. But with the new opportunity comes saying goodbye to my family at @konabikes It feels so bittersweet to say goodbye. We rode hard, partied hard, shot some cool projects, built amazing teams, and launched some incredible bikes. Mostly though, it’s the people. From a boss willing to carry me around in a race, to friends that will be riding buddies for life, to ambassadors that live all around the world- I am beyond grateful for the times we’ve had. It’s not goodbye… the bike industry is way too small for that. For now I’m looking forward to telling new stories. Riding new bikes. Making new connections and elevating a brand that I know is badass. Look out North America… I’m coming for you. ☢️
