Scott getting a helping hand from Freddie Hunt 😉. Great team work! Our team managed to qualify P2 with just seconds to go when we went to P3 by just 1/600ths of a second! The 2022 Support Ukraine Grand Prix raised at incredible £19,500. The event took place this week at Rye House Kart Circuit, Hoddesdon, Herts., in the run up to the British F1 Grand Prix. The circuit is where seven times F1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton honed his skills. The funds are going to the British-Ukrainian Aid for emergency life saving First Aid kits to help save lives in Ukraine. Freddie Hunt Official, son of James Hunt, 1976 F1 world champion, entered one of 23 teams that took part in the ‘Le Mans’ style 3 hour endurance race. Scott Huntley was one of his team mates. Freddie is starring in the new film, ‘Sons of Speed’ with Niki Lauda's son, Mathius Lauda, to be released this Summer. Supermodel Jodie Kidd, also entered a team of drivers. The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team donated prizes including a set of George Russell's Signed McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris race helmets for the fastest laps were won on the KartSim simulator. Well done Jamie for winning one. Red Bull F1 team also donated prizes. Thanks to Mark Garrett for organising such a worthwhile event and to Ryan at Rye House and those that came and supported us including Jason Ross, Mike Gurney, Jamie & Eugene Mark Sully. #OnThisDay 8 years ago @ScottSHuntley was leading the birelART UK Series, British Karting Championship, in the Junior 100 kart class, after the first round of the season. It was held at Whilton Mill, nr. Daventry.
It is the most difficult conditions he has had to race in during his time at national level. Saturday test day was dry and sunny, but race day morning was very wet, so the kart set up was completely different for Sunday race day. Scott was unlucky to qualify 13th and only manage 8th in the first Heat race. Just before the pre-final race, a technical problem was discovered on his kart, which turned out to be the reason why he was not at the front during qualifying. Just prior to going on the grid, the heavens opened, drenching the drying track. Everyone panicked and changed to wet tyres, we both took a gamble and was the only one on slicks, which had not even been scubbed in. It then stopped raining, but there were ominous black clouds in the distance. Within a few laps Scott had made it to the front and ended up wining the race by a very impressive 13 seconds. In the final Scott started pole, and just missing wining the race by 0.2 seconds and was runner up. Another lap and he could have won. A good result considering I am an amateur mechanic! A true ‘father/son team’, just like the very early days of karting. Scott also recorded the fastest Junior lap time on race day with a 49.676 seconds.
Scott was marking the 50th anniversary of McLaren F1 GP racing cars on his kart.
Scott thanked his sponsors, CZ Chains, and local farmers Pete and Fran Theobald Living Memorial and Lazybones bootsale in Rettendon, plus the support from his grandmother, Cathy Huntley and uncle Andy in New Zealand.
Scott won five podium trophies in his first ‘rookie’ year of MSA (Motor Sports Association) Easykart UK national racing when he was a Cadet in 2014. He went on to be one of only two cadets to represent GB in the EasyKart World finals in Lignano, Italy in Oct. 2014. In 2013 he won 30 trophies on indoor and outdoor corporate hire tracks in Essex at Brentwood, Witham and Rayleigh. He was 3rd overall in the EasyKart Junior UK Championship last year.

#OnThisDay 10 years ago. Congratulations to @scotthuntleyracing for being named Essex Chronicle Media Group’s Young Sports Star of the Year and also receiving the top award overall, the Essex County Cricket Club Award for Sporting Excellence in Essex.
This was held at the Essex County Cricket Club and nominees included a Commonwealth Games Gold medal winner, a GB Motor Cycle Champion and other incredible Sports People that live in Essex. Former EasyKart and ACR kart racer, Alex Lynn the 2014 GP3 Champion, who will be a development driver for the Williams F1 Team for 2015 was also a nominee.
The awards were from Scott’s karting achievements during the EasyKart UK National Championships 2014, where he achieved five podiums in his first Rookie Season of racing.
In a year he went from racing corporate hire karts at Brentwood Raceway & being Cadet Champion at A12 Karters indoor track, Witham to representing GB as a Cadet in the World EasyKart finals in Lignano, Italy.
