Just 3 days before we made the gruelling 4500km journey from Canada to Road Atlanta we managed to get the Mustang out on track for its first few laps after being completely rebuilt over the last year. The last time I had driven this car was August 2024. Everything felt foreign, the feel of the car, seating position, peddle position, steering position, I didn’t quite like how uncomfortable I felt in the car. My dad @speedwebb45 had set up the @hotlinegarage@iwon_inc suspension to near perfection but after 4 laps of testing I was concerned that my driving was just not where it was almost 2 years ago. I was getting in my head about how unprepared we were for our first round of @formuladriftprospec not only from a driving point but also, our lack of tools and spares. I will elaborate on this in a future YouTube video but I’m so blessed to be surrounded by such an amazing team that encouraged me along the way. We will build on what we learned from Round 1 and just like each lap I got in the car we will get better and better. Road Atlanta has definitely tested us already.
Morning practice was rough with the rain. We only managed to get one run in. Not exactly the start we were hoping for, but that’s part of motorsports!
Second practice session was a completely different story. We got multiple runs in and the car kept improving every lap. The confidence started coming back and by the time we rolled into seeding, the whole team felt ready.
First battle went well and we moved on comfortably. Second battle was a tough one, it ended up being a split decision against us. Not the outcome we wanted, but that’s drifting sometimes and we’ll keep moving forward.
The important part is we’re officially in the Top 32 show tomorrow at our first Formula Drift ProSpec event!
Tomorrow we line up against Collin Zielinski, which is going to be a tough battle, but we’re ready to keep pushing and finish this event strong.
