Going to vote in LA there was this sense of optimism. I saw multiple people in line at the polls wearing Zohran merch, others checking if New York City’s results had been updated yet. We were happy to vote for 50, but we all wished we got the opportunity to vote for something as consequential, something as groundbreaking as those who cast a vote for Zohran. Los Angeles, you will soon have that opportunity.
Rae has been a fierce advocate for housing & worker protections winning battles like rent caps & wage increases. She inspires so much altruism in her politics that really gives me hope. That’s what LA needs right now. Enough corporate mouth pieces, empty promises & scrapped development scams. I’ve lived here for a decade now and every day still find new reasons & ways to love this city. With the olympics on the horizon, I fear what LA could become without a Mayor who will put people first. I’m doing what I can to turn that fear into something productive.

@Sten.olson , @andeewarhol , and I drove out to Vegas on 4hrs notice last superbowl to shoot literally all night going from casino floors to penthouse views, brushing shoulders with some of my favorite rappers @lilbaby , @rylorodriguez , @42_dugggg , @dc2trill and somehow Apple CEO Tim Cook and @kaicenat (??) lmao i couldn’t thank everyone enough for making this video a masterpiece especially @jordan_som for the final stretch of editing & sound when my brain was too fried to compute, @arigato_aj for going full oceans 11 with me, to @onechildpolicy letting me run CRT scans late into the night at his crib. For 10 years i’ve lived only a few hours from Vegas and always said I don’t wanna go til I could ball out and experience it fully. Let me tell you this whirlwind 48 hrs gave me all that & more so all I could do is try to capitalize on my overstimulation for visual eyecandy 🍬🤪

Did they think we were stupid or that we’d stay quiet?
@strackazar and I spent a tireless month on the @raeforla campaign launch video—bringing in our close friends, pulling favors, creating original music, incorporating real people and real stories. I’m sure it’s a good sign when a corporation with 50+ employees and 20x the budget copies you and your friend’s passion project. What they couldn’t copy was the substance and the heart of our video, just the aesthetics. We made running for mayor in LA look so cool that Nithya decided to throw her name in the hat on the day of the filing deadline. She wants the title, Rae wants the work. To make a city work better for its working people is gonna take more than cheap mockery and acting the part.
Early voting has already begun. Inform yourself and move accordingly. If you’re interested in doing more than voting please do not hesitate to reach out.

On Jan 30th, LA saw thousands march in solidarity with Minneapolis for a nationwide general strike. Businesses closed, students walked out, and @raeforla hit the streets with @hasandpiker . Rae was notably the only candidate for mayor amongst the people & this is a common pattern we’re noticing.
They may have money, but we got people.
@strackazar and I go so hard on these videos because we want to make Karen Bass and the compromised LA political consultants fucking terrified. All the dirty money in the world can’t stop millions of people fired up and ready for change. We need all hands on deck. Let the race to November begin. Volunteer, donate or just follow along for more opportunities to use your creative skills for good.

Holy shit I wanna thank everybody who toook the time to watch this video & share, comment or whatever. When I took this risk I never anticipated the reception to be this positive! This little bit of BTS I have shows the beginning middle & end of how this video came to be and I’m just grateful that it’s gotten the opportunity to reach its audience. First music video I’ve posted on my personal YouTube acc that’s been inactive for over 7 years. To catch the algorithm just shows me when you make good shit, it can organically get to the right ppl without the support of any major platforms, write ups, promo, etc.

This what it feels like to be inside a slot machine
The first narrative project I’ve directed in 6 years couldn’t be more different than anything I’ve ever done. A full VR production from blocking, rehearsing, shooting, & directing performances with MoCap actors. It would have been easy to watch a bunch of Barbie movies and regurgitate the references & style but it was a worthwhile challenge to bring inspiration from the most outlandish places & make it work in this context; to try things I’ve never had the budget to do on shoots with real cameras and locations.
Episode 7 of Barbie Doll Adventures is called the Cookie Disaster but all the script said was “the Girls all scream.” I had an idea to pull from RRR and make an interior out of cookies that would block out the sun and split all the Barbies into their own claustrophobic hell. Scared I was gonna get shot down, but people in the office loved that movie and thought it was hilarious.
Some days all the new things I was learning in the headset & with the software had my head spinning. I’d go home and have dreams I was a Barbie or I was flying around dreamland with the camera tool. I had to be intentional so as not to let the technological learning curve get in the way of my creativity. To my surprise— the iPad kids are eating it up and The Cookie Disaster is the most watched episode in the series. I have to thank @humanmabs for believing that I could be good at doing this job and putting me up for it! Thank You Mabs 🥹 hope I made u proud!

Literally became the biggest fan of Cruza after meeting them once and seeing their flow as a band. When I went back to listen to all their music on streaming & early SoundCloud, I couldn’t stop playing it for friends & family, anyone who’d listen. So to get to shoot their first LA headlining show document a pivotal time in their careers was really special to me.
This wouldn’t be possible without my brothers @arigato.aj & @jordan_som shooting simultaneously from all sides of the venues. Not only was Jordan the resident trippy camera operator but he also edited all the multicam sequences, split screen moments and found the magic where it was overlooked. Add to that @ajroths signature touch on the graphics and pace and you get this movie
