Back to where it all took root! Marshall and Marrows was created because of one silly idea all the way back in 2017. That one idea blossomed into four separate seasons, four different versions and a show that is very close to our heart; Pining For Affection: A Tree Musical. The show has always been confined to a specific room, on specific dates, so we wanted to give Pining the opportunity to find a new audience by putting together a fully-filmed and edited version of the 2023 rendition of the show and releasing it for free on YouTube. It features some of the most incredibly talented people we know; @ursula.searle @gina_is_tallish @alfredkouris @stephen__amos as well as the work of some insanely talented artists, who we always feel lucky to have worked with; @georgiewolfe @juliakaddatz @sophresh_hitsof2026 @_harry_gabriel @dianeanastasia ! Join us way out in Woop Woop for a staged reading of @clancyoftheoutback - A Musical Adventure 🤠🎶, a brand-new adaptation of the beloved book series by Phil Kettle and Bob Andersen. After a successful industry reading in Melbourne, and a tour to their hometown of Mildura, @marshallandmarrows , in partnership with @saltytheatre and @theatreworksstkilda are thrilled to be presenting an exclusive sneak preview of this developing work. This family-friendly musical adventure tells a universal story of home, acceptance and identity through a uniquely Aussie lens 🇦🇺. 1200 kilometres from his old home, 12-year-old Clancy is thrown into the unpredictability of country life with his Mum and the bright, colourful inhabitants of The Overflow 🌵. From a pesky paddock bomb to a baby kangaroo, a fearsome flood to a feral frenzy, Clancy will have to deal with all of the outback’s challenges to find his place in the world. After a successful staged reading in Mildura, @marshallandmarrows , in partnership with @saltytheatre , are raising funds to workshop @clancyoftheoutback - A Musical Adventure in a professional setting. 🤠🎶 This fundraiser is being run in conjunction with our Melbourne and Mildura readings. Clancy of the Outback - A Musical Adventure, tells a universal story of home, acceptance and identity through a uniquely Aussie lens. 1200 kilometres from his old home, 12-year-old Clancy is thrown into the unpredictability of country life with his Mum and the bright, colourful inhabitants of The Overflow. Why We’re Raising Funds Victoria does not currently have a professional program dedicated to developing and showcasing new musical theatre. Salty Theatre is working to change that. Last night we had the first ever industry reading of @dylanjohnmarshall and I’s new kid’s musical Clancy of the Outback: A Musical Adventure @clancyoftheoutback 

It was an absolute blast seeing the show come to life for the first time in front of a packed house full of friends, fellow creatives and a whole bunch of industry movers and shakers; we absolutely could not have been more thrilled with how it went down! Having the original authors @philip.kettle.90 and @andersen.bob4 in the audience together for the first time was a total delight, we couldn’t be more grateful to have those two absolute legends in our corner. 

We have to particularly thank @ashtaylortickell and @saltytheatre for putting it all together as well as Brandon and the team at @antipodesarts for lending us their space and always supporting the development of new musicals. 

Our cast, @wernmak , @ursula.searle , Steven Gates and @sophiemloughran , are absolute legends who completely brought this show to life and we love y’all to bits!! It takes more than a village to put on a new musical, especially an original Australian one, and we’re just so thankful to every single person who came out to support out work!
