Ottawa. We need to talk about the internet. The End of the Internet comes to Bytowne Cinema on May 20, and we promise you have never been to a screening like this. Before the film even starts, the theatre transforms. You walk into an interactive installation built around the film’s world. You can touch it, read it, move through it. It is designed to make you feel something before you have even found your seat. Then the film: a globe-spanning documentary that follows the technologists, activists, and everyday people who are refusing to let a handful of corporations own the infrastructure of modern life. From Berlin to Taiwan to the Amazon rainforest, these are the people fighting for a different internet. And honestly? After watching this film, you will want to join them. Seats are limited. Get your tickets now and come early. May 20 @ 6:45pm Bytowne Cinema, Ottawa Link in bio #TheEndOfTheInternet #BytowneCinema #Ottawa #CanadianFilm #Documentary MustSee

What if the internet was never meant to end up like this? The End of the Internet is a documentary and interactive installation experience coming to theatres across Canada this spring. It follows the technologists, activists, and everyday people on five continents who are quietly building a different version of the internet than the one we have now. Watch the trailer. Then come see it in person. The experience inside the theatre is something the screen cannot fully capture. Ottawa, Waterloo, Toronto, Vancouver. Dates and tickets in bio. #TheEndOfTheInternet #CanadianFilm #Documentary #NowPlaying #ComingSoon

We're starting a film club! From Cold War military roots to Big Tech dominance, The End of the Internet will take us on a journey through Berlin squats, Catalan churches, and Brazilian villages to reveal movements fighting to decentralize the network beyond "the cloud.” Before the screening, audiences are invited to join a secret server hidden inside the cinema — a private, offline network, completely disconnected from the internet. Inside, a parallel version of the film unfolds: raw footage, deleted scenes, research fragments, rough notes, live chat rooms, and hidden easter eggs — materials that exist nowhere else. Q&A with the director following the screening! 📅 Friday, May 29 ⏰ Doors open at 6:00 PM, screening starts at 6:30 PM 📍 Revue Cinema 🎟️ Tickets $17.50 each Link in bio! @revuecinema @torontotechweek #tech #internet #democracy

📽 Disrupt. Dismantle. Decentralize. A film about the invisible operating system of the modern world. From an anarchist squat in Berlin, to a futuristic landscape in Taiwan, to a remote village in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest, we encounter a series of figures from the internet decentralization movement. These radicals are confronting internet infrastructure and the unexpected ways it exerts pressure on their way of life. A journey through infrastructure, power, and history with the dissidents trying to hardwire a new path forward. To create a memorable, shareable event around "The End of the Internet", we are presenting the film as a hybrid screening experience that combines a traditional cinema presentation with an interactive installation inside the theatre. This installation transforms the cinema into an active, explorable space — inviting audiences to physically engage with the film’s themes before the screening begins. 🍿 "The End of the Internet" screens Wednesday, May 20 at 6:45pm 🎟 Get tickets now, link in bio

Hello friends — I don’t know if any of my friends are part of the Film section of the Academy, but here goes. I humbly present THE END OF THE INTERNET for your consideration in the following categories at the Canadian Screen Awards. THE END OF THE INTERNET is a journey down the rabbit hole of the decentralization movement — a group of people who are trying to rebuild the infrastructure of the internet. In squats, in underground spaces, and in communities around the world, they are building alternatives to the platforms that now dominate our lives. In this moment of distrust in platform monopolies — surveillance, censorship, and the corporate control of information — the film worms its way through communities of dissidents, radicals, and the hidden history of the internet to imagine a new future. One that could be a utopia, or a dystopia. I was lucky enough to be able to craft this project with some extremely talented members of the filmmaking community — friends who are deeply talented, and whose work deserves careful consideration. @coldofthevalleys @gabeknox_music @trickywoomtl @mountain_city_studio @theendoftheinternet.film #jaredraab

Back in 1990, I made a time capsule which I planned to open on my birthday in the year 2000. I filled it with precious artifacts, some recordings, and wrote out my thoughts, hopes and dreams. I planned to open it in 2000… or 2010 if I could wait that long. Well, 37 years have passed and - while the tape is disintegrating- it remains unopened. The funny thing is, by taking the time to write all that stuff down, I have a pretty good idea of everything that’s inside. I think about this when I consider the path that I chose- filled with archives, documentation, and memories. It will remain unopened. At least another year.

Friends — hope 2025 treated you gently, or at least didn’t fully throw you into the sea. Somehow, it turned out to be a complete all-time banger over here. I premiered my debut feature-length film at the glorious CPH:DOX, then proceeded to drag it (and myself) around the world: Buenos Aires, Munich, Paris, Macedonia, Shanghai, Singapore… plus a few airports I no longer emotionally recognize. Work also sent me to Switzerland, Holland, Latvia, and Sweden for the first time — and back to some old comforts (Germany and Poland, still holding strong). There were also some truly unhinged adventures in Czechia and Greece with the love of my life, @sue_tee_ , who continues to agree to travel with me despite all available evidence. I finally made it to China to screen the film and deliver a keynote (???) at the Institute of Network Society at the China Academy of Art — a sentence I still don’t fully believe I’m allowed to say. And I returned to my second home, Singapore, where I was relieved to discover my friends still remembered who I was. Barely. Oh — and we got a dog. Her name is TIGER. She is small, lazy, and already running the household. More on that soon. 🐯
