“Beauty is different, creating surprise and inconsistencies. Defined by the individual. Sometimes from nothing. At times with the foundation pre-existing. It’s yours to define. Love conquers all; as does beauty.” an excerpt from #ABookThatIWouldRead #ABTIWR #Repost #Share #Follow ⬇️⬇️ @researxhclass @researxhclass

THE OPENING RECEPTION. from DW… One day, I’ll tell the entire story! That one that many already know and/or maybe even played a part in. Or maybe one day I’ll forget. And the allure of the present, the now, will be overwhelmed by many more barriers broken, obstacles conquered, traditions disturbed. What I will never forget is you! The people. My people! Everybody that showed up and stepped into the unknown. Many having no idea of this artistic expression! Most definitely not to this scale. Thank you! I will need you again. To show up in conversation when art is mentioned. Mention my name. When ideas are floated about surrounding design, installations, etc. Mention my name! I will never stop taking care of what I say I will do! 📸: @lrismyname 🔊: @djmeel ————————— #DemetriusWilliamson #aGameintheAlley #artexhibition #soloshow @researxhclass

There are multiple messages within this piece. From the nostalgia of playing the game of basketball in an alley on the Southside of Chicago to a call for action that’s not immediately noticed but, once observed, it is necessary and unforgettable. And there’s a sense of community, a sense of familiarity regardless of the visual exactness of your childhood’s neighborhood. For me, I love an indirect through line (I won’t tell you but I believe in you to find it!) This piece of art tells a story about the Great Migration and the journey of my grandparents from Arkansas and Mississippi. They created this moment decades ago when they purchased a home in Englewood. Think about the moments in this very present time that we’re creating for generations beyond. There’s only one reality where time exists. "And the Milk Crate on the Light Pole", 2025 acrylic, oil pastel, paper, oil color pencil, paint marker on canvas 60 in x 60 in P.S. It will always be something special about using your own words. Don’t let them fool you. ARTforResearch.com @researxhclass @dw.ii

The imagination is subjective. The imagination should remain subjective, theoretically. The idea of depicting a thought in perfect color explains why ‘art’ is the first syllable in ‘articulate’. [And ‘pic’ in ‘depicting’, if I must spell it out] The imagination is NOT objective. The only hope is that ego is removable during the emotional combat of projecting what imagination is. But, you see, humility does not always speak to what we are due. And for that, the anthesis unapologetically finds its color. Most of life is an imagination that we won. Won wild. ARTforResearch.com

THE INSTALL. from DW… On October 10, 2024, I was extended an offer by the New Yard Gallery to put on an exhibition the following week. Crazy, right!? To you and the rest of the art world, maybe. I already had 19 pieces of original art. Their fear was that I did not have enough to fill the 4,000+ sqft gallery space. I completed 12 pieces in 4 days. TWELVE PIECES OF ART IN FOUR DAYS!!! And the doors to “a Game in the Alley” opened on October 17, 2024. As my debut SOLO art exhibition in Los Angeles comes to pass, I’d like to thank all that were involved and every single word of affirmation, encouragment, support, and each ear lended to hear the BTS story. Thank you 🙏🏾! But it wasn’t me. Nah! I’m only exhausting all of the talents God has blessed me with! Much love! Until the next! ————————— #DemetriusWilliamson #aGameintheAlley #artexhibition #soloshow @researxhclass
