An inaugural DUNE Analysis School was successfully hosted by the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory Neutrino Physics Center (NPC) this week. As the first in a planned series, this event launched a long-term commitment to training and supporting young DUNE collaboration members develop necessary software and analysis skills. Congratulations to all of the participants! Thanks to Vishvas Pandey and the rest of the local organizing committee, as well as Mike Kirby and the rest of the program committee, for their hard work in making this first event a resounding success! @fermilab

The DUNE Resource Review Board (RRB) convened last week at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, South Dakota, bringing together international partners from across the globe. During the visit, RRB members were thrilled to tour the DUNE experimental caverns located a mile underground. @sanfordlab @fermilab @cern

We are thrilled to launch the Global Voices of DUNE series and in this inaugural post, we are happy to showcase Patricia Sanchez Lucas from University of Granada, Spain. Patricia's dream is to decipher the question of mass ordering and definitely find an answer to it with DUNE!

Check out this great article on DUNE, highlighting the recent cryostat beam signing event milestone and what comes next as construction moves a mile underground. /article/us-neutrino-megaproject-takes-shape-in-abandoned-gold-mine/ @fermilab @sanfordlab @cern

Cryostat Beam signing event in Lead last week went successfully with more than 600 signatures collected on the beam. The Cryostat which is a vital in-kind contribution from CERN, is designed to house 17,000 tons of liquid argon maintaining an ultra-cold temperature of approximately -300 degree Fahrenheit enabling the detection of neutrino interactions. The interest from the local communities and general public was extraordinary. Thanks to Fermilab and Sanford Underground Research Facility for organizing this event in such a way that allowed the public to engage directly with scientists and dignitaries from around the world to celebrate this incredible milestone! @fermilab @sanfordlab @cern

A nice moment captured! The celebration of the cryostat beam signing event this week at Sanford Underground Research Facility brought together several past and current spokes of DUNE: Mark Thomson (2015-18), Regina Rameika (2021-22), Sergio Bertolucci (2022-206) and current spokespersons Sowjanya Gollapinni and David Newbold - proof that major detector milestones can occasionally align spacetime coordinates as well as schedules. @cern @fermilab @sanfordlab #LBNF

Today in Lead, South Dakota, leaders from the Department of @energy , members of Congress, Fermilab, @CERN , @SanfordLab and the local community gathered to mark a major milestone for @DUNEscience . Attendees signed one of the first structural steel beams that will be lowered nearly a mile underground to build the framework for DUNE’s far detector — the start of 10 million pounds of steel moving below the surface. These structures will eventually support the massive cryostats that hold tens of thousands of tons of liquid argon for neutrino detection. Today’s milestone symbolizes the extraordinary international effort behind DUNE as together we work toward the next frontier of neutrino science. CERN has provided an in-kind contribution of 10 million pounds of steel, marking the first time it has invested in infrastructure for an experiment outside Europe. More than 1,500 scientists and engineers from over 35 countries are contributing to DUNE’s design, construction and science mission. This moment represents a pivotal step toward building the underground detectors in South Dakota — and toward unlocking new answers about our universe. The future of neutrino science is taking shape, beam by beam. Read more at the link in our bio. #DUNEscience #Fermilab #CERN #SanfordLab #DOE #neutrinos #physics #ParticlePhysics #MilestoneForScience

@DUNEScience is tackling some of the biggest questions in the universe — including why we’re here at all. 🔍✨ DUNE is designed to investigate three cosmic mysteries: 🔹 Could neutrinos be the reason the universe is made of matter? 🔹 Is there physics beyond the Standard Model? 🔹 What really happens inside an exploding star? Understanding neutrinos doesn’t just expand our fundamental knowledge — it could spark new advances in national security, communications and medical imaging. Today we're marking a major milestone: one of the first structural beams for the far detector's cryostat is being lowered nearly a mile below the surface. At the same time, we’re celebrating the progress being made toward discoveries that could reshape our understanding of the cosmos and the science that makes DUNE worth building #DUNEscience #Fermilab #CERN #SanfordLab #neutrinos#physics #ParticlePhysics #MilestoneForScience

Thanks to Justin Evans for hosting a DUNE-UK mini-workshop on Anode Plane Assemblies (APAs) at the The University of Manchester last week during a visit of DUNE Co-Spokespeople. In addition to Science and Technology Facilities Council's Rutherford Appleton Lab and Daresbury Laboratory which hosts the APA factory, the DUNE-UK APA project has strong university participation from Imperial College London, Lancaster University, University of Liverpool, The University of Manchester, The University of Sheffield, and University of Sussex. The university groups are making critical contributions on a number of fronts including the wire geometry boards, Digital Wire Analyzer for Quality Control, and providing expertise for ongoing APA cold box tests at CERN and future installation at the Sanford Underground Research Facility in South Dakota. @fermilab @cern @sanfordlab @bigscience_stfc @weareukri @imperialcollege @lancasteruni @livuni @sussexuni #UniversityOfSheffield #ManchesterUniversity
