In case no one has said this to you before:
You are 100% capable of letting go of your relationship insecurity and moving into a place of feeling empowered 🤍
No one is too wounded to love and be loved.
If you’d like support for the journey—I’m here ❤️
Rooting for you,
Dufflyn
Why do we chase unavailable people?
.
Because we are unavailable… in some way or other.
.
There is a payoff for us— we get to avoid taking a risk, being vulnerable, ever being the bad guy, responsibility for so much because we can blame it all on that.
.
We play the victim when we choose unavailable people.
.
And we serve no one.
.
So if you find yourself attracted to someone unavailable— what are you getting out of that?

Some books are simply published. Others are believed into existence. You Had Me at Bonjour is a midlife memoir of romance, reinvention, Paris, and the kind of love that changes you from the inside out. Now, @dufflyn is inviting readers to become part of the journey from the very beginning.
We’re officially LIVE on Kickstarter — and every pledge helps bring this beautiful book into the world. From editorial and design to printing, events, and promotion, this campaign is about building a community around a story that deserves to be shared. And honestly? Independent publishing only works when readers decide stories like this matter.
If you’ve ever:
💌 started over
🇫🇷 dreamed of Paris
❤️ fallen in love later in life
✨ or reinvented yourself after heartbreak
…this book is for you.
We need to raise $12,500 by June 2, and we would love for you to be part of making You Had Me at Bonjour real. Go to link in bio to support the campaign! And yay on the cover design by the one and only @stephaniechinnart .

The truth is most books don’t fall into just one or two buckets, they’re always a bit like a number of books, and in the best cases in conversation with a number of different books. I found it easier to say my book is a little bit like Emily in Paris x White Magic, but more widely my debut memoir is also the following based on this reel:
1. Travel romance
2. Women’s true stories that resonate.
3. Self exploration with a touch of magic.
.
YOU HAD ME AT BONJOUR, A Memoir of Romance And Reinvention is out June 4, 2026 if you like the sound of any of the above. You can click the links in my bio to find out more. 💘

My book YOU HAD ME AT BONJOUR, a Memoir of Romance And Reinvention comes out June 4, 2026. It’s my first book!
.
I wrote my first Novela at the age of 11. I wanted to be the next S.E. Hinton (The Outsiders).
.
I have been writing my whole life and have published poems, spoken word, essays, (LA Times, Business Insider, Def Poetry) and edited an anthology with Saul Williams.
.
After years of struggling to get a book into the traditional system, I am taking a risk with a hybrid publisher, Rise Literary, who has distribution with Simon and Schuster.
.
While at first, I felt shame, I now feel empowered. 🙌🏻
.
If you are a writer, (or reader) how do you feel about self publishing or hybrid publishing?
.
Does it change what you think to know that a self published writer can make the New York Times bestseller list?

This is the summer you finally write your book.
You begin in the body, from the part of you that already knows what wants to be said. Then you conjure the story, getting clear on how you want to share your words and who they’re for. And then you build the practice. You sit down. You keep going until the thing you’ve been dreaming about is actually on the page.
That’s what we’re doing at Story Magic in Paris, held at the Theater Odeon on Friday and Saturday, 5-6 of June.
Before that, we’re warming up — IG Lives with the incredible authors from our Author Luncheon at the retreat, @ajiriaki and @robinnelee — and a free workshop on Thursday: Your Path to a Writing Practice at 10am PST with retreat hosts @vyana.novus , @dufflyn + @kristenmcguiness .
Story Magic is the space to finally start your story or finish your book! Make this your Hot Book Summer.

If they can get five questions right, this Couple will win a luxury gift set from @tayshaba.paris ❤️

I learned this game at my friend Amy’s wedding. And it reminded me of the old-fashioned newlywed game. Isn’t it interesting? What couples know about each other? And also what things they know about each other, but don’t want to admit. 😂
.
Special thanks to @troyhenriksen for the artfully crafted heart shaped paddles! 💘

Story Magic isn’t about productivity or finally getting your act together or whatever version of a “writing practice” you’ve been trying to force. It’s about coming back to something that actually feels good.
Beginning in your body, letting yourself feel something again, remembering that writing isn’t just a mental exercise—it’s sensation, memory, excitement, desire, all of it moving through you at once, whether you’ve been paying attention to it or not.
That’s what we’re doing in Paris at Story Magic—two days at the Odéon, writing in the city, actually being with your work instead of avoiding it, getting the kind of feedback that doesn’t just sound nice but genuinely helps you move forward, wherever you’re at in your process.
If you’d like a sneak peek, we’re hosting a free online workshop next Thursday—Your Path to a Writing Practice, May 7 at 10am—where we start in the only place that really works, which is not your head but your body, and see what happens when you write from there instead. And if something shifts, even a little, you’ll understand why Paris.

Every year I get a little bouquet of Muget flowers from my Frenchie. ❤️ Below is an excerpt about the first one from my forthcoming book YOU HAD ME AT BONJOUR, A Memoir Of Romance And Reinvention - forthcoming from @riseliterary (@simonandschuster ) on June 4th, 2026!
.
On the first of May, Benjamin brought me a small muguet plant in a clay pot with tiny bell-shaped flowers.
“It’s tradition,” he said.
I put it on the table next to my computer.
“It’s nice,” I told him. “I can smell it while I’m sitting here working. It smells good.”
“Better than my farts,” he said.
“Much, much better than your farts.” I smiled, and my belly relaxed as I began typing away on my keyboard.
I am not without a sense of humor, but I am not the one who looks for the joke in everything, either. Having someone around who does feels good most of the time. I hadn’t realized Benjamin was funny until one day when we were invited to a dinner party with some of his French friends. I didn’t understand what was being said, but at a certain point, I looked around the table and realized he was making them all laugh. And even though I didn’t get the jokes, this made me happy.
