I’ve wanted to post about Russian-born Martin Schulte on this account since I started it. He’s one of my favourite dub techno artists, so I’ve struggled to pick a single track to represent him in a post. His albums represent different environments in our world - Forest, Ocean, Seasons, Urban Melodies. The earthiness I love about dub techno is all over his music. I recommend listening to his Slow Beauty album next if you are enjoying this track. He has 22K monthly listeners on Spotify at time of posting. As for the “art,” I took this photo on my Yashica T4 camera in Albania. Then I slapped a VSCO filter on it. So art is by @dat_op

Narcotic 303 (Alexander Senge) is a Cologne-born musician and founder of Deeptakt Records, producing electronic music since 1996. He’s built a catalogue that spans dub techno and techno, including two full dub tech albums - Stairway to the Moon and Second World. This track has 38K plays on Spotify at the time of posting. He has ~1,400 monthly listeners on Spotify and 553 YouTube subscribers. Deeptakt Records has ~5,300 followers on SoundCloud, which is home to some excellent dub techno mixes. His dub techno tracks are the highlight for me, though I also recommend his YouTube for his techno mixes. Art by @emilywick

Art by @xeangelinaa A bit more dubby today. Frenk Dublin is a dub techno artist based in the Netherlands. Founder of Dubstep Rotterdam Records and Dub Communication. I love his pulls from Jamaican dub and reggae. You can find many of his releases on Spotify. If you want something deep and grimy, I love his Pervasive Shadow EP. Almost dubstep. He’ll probably see this so I hope he doesn’t hate that review. He has ~1300 followers on instagram at the time of this post at @frenk_dublin . Enjoy

The other great thing about this account is that I can also post art that I really like. This is by @3xpyre . Going forward I’ll be sure to tag the artist where I can. Upwellings has quickly become a staple for me. His real name is Vincent Raude. He’s French, and has been producing since the 90s. I LOVE his music. Lovely deep sea tech. Van Bonn is German and I actually discovered him through this particular song. He has 1,000 followers on Instagram at the time of posting this. As always, enjoy. And have a lovely day!

At the time of posting this, NZ born SUBSET has only 94 followers on RA and about ~9.600 monthly listeners on Spotify. This is one of my favorites. If you wish to look him up on Spotify, use the all caps SUBSET. Some of his tracks have been mixed in with another band’s profile, called Subset.

I promise I’ll keep it to a single post every few days going forward, but since it’s day 1, I’ll just share 1 more. Sleepygirl 10 by @steini.yagya If you’re enjoying this one, I really recommend listening to Yagya’s Sleepygirl 2 next. ‘Will I Dream During the Process?’ is another of the Icelandic artist’s albums. I really love that title.

For the newbies to the genre, Rhythm & Sound is the project of Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus, originating in Berlin in the 90’s. This laid the entire foundation for the dub techno scene. They’ve also worked under other names, such as Basic Channel. Mark Ernestus owns Hard Wax, the record shop in Berlin. I saw him recently when he opened the night at Fold for Batu. It was a dream come true. Almost no one was there. Another reason to create this page. Moritz von Oswald produces for Tresor as well. #dubtechno #dubtech #dubwise #ambienttechno

I’ve decided to move this account from a personal music-following page into a public one dedicated to an under-appreciated genre of music: dub techno. In creating this, I’m hoping to connect with fellow lovers of this sound and share excellent music, while also bringing more fans and awareness to the artists who create it. I’ll be posting tracks here often. I was listening to my usual dub techno while working today, and Unconsciousness by Nae:Tek & Moodeep came on. This track is what inspired me to turn this page into this little passion project. To me this is the perfect dub techno track - earthy, ambient, and with bass you feel in all your insides. I hope you enjoy it.
