hello internet friends. i am here to say that, thus far, the worst and the best meals of my life were had while fishing. wrote about some of them for the newest issue of @theflyfishjournal . i like what i wrote.
also i consumed everything in the first photo on a hot morning last summer and felt finer than a frog’s hair. thank you kindly.
it is often i get my boat stuck. it is typically with my emergency contact who is also my wife. it is because i am a fool. it is because i think i will catch fish. i often do not catch fish. @tailflyfishing let me write about it all.
much, much love to @glennstattoo who illustrated the essay. and many thanks to @enickens for the encouragement and edit. pick up issue 58 at a fly shop near you.
latest slop from leisurely fishing club: 1000 words on the sin/joy of night fishing for @southerncultureonthefly . read it in their latest issue.

“Dock-light fishing, I argue, deserves a seat at the table of irreverence. Casting flies in the night to fish hypnotically entranced by overhead LED isn’t exactly dignified recreation. No, it’s the kind of practice you might sheepishly assure your friends you only do ‘once or twice a year.’ Even so, less-than-sporting ventures have the potential to remind us it’s all just stick-whipping, whether simple or difficult, sacred or profane.”
