DJ Trace is one of the most influential and supportive figures in the 2Tuff story. Since the early days, he’s been a vital artist, contributor, and friend to the 2Tuff family and the East Coast Jungle/DNB movement. A chance meeting between @2tuff Andy and Trace in 1994 sparked a connection that brought Trace to some of our very first warehouse jungle events in 1995. He also helped link Andy with key UK contacts at Lucky Spin and DeeJay Recordings—labels where Trace himself released early jungle/DNB classics. These connections paved the way for our early all-jungle raves like “Renegades” and “Absolutely Tearin’”. Throughout the years, Trace has remained a pioneering force in drum & bass. As one of the creators of the Techstep sound, his seminal “Mutant Jazz” remix and releases on No U Turn introduced the his iconic distorted Reese bassline that helped define the sound. His work spans legendary labels like @virusrecordings , @prototyperecsuk , @metalheadzmusic , and his own imprints @dsci4 and 117—with a discography packed full of anthems.
