Driving home last night and fueling full tank as usual, then noticed, the bill was slightly higher... It made me think of last week when Bob Mwiti asked me for coffee and he was telling me how my skills are premium in the US... Like highly experienced lecturers are premium imagine... I am here wondering how can it be? Have you guys heard of the EB2-NIW?…A US permanent residency pathway for highly skilled professionals? Now that you have all cooled down.... I just want to say Asus, Nyakasagam achiel, Jaber mohingo nyithindo is not just any woman... This power woman here was our Headgirl at Asumbi Girls High School in 1999. This is a lady of her words. What you call lelo, we call speaking your mind with authority. And if you see us having courage of 100 people and we speak our mind, you should know a few things about Asumbi Girls, Nyi Ababi... Asumbi Girls we are bold and fearless Asumbi Girls we say the truth and nothing but the truth... Asumbi Girls, beyo to wabeyo ndiiii. Asumbi Girls, ger to wager ndiiii Asumbi Girls, we are women of nyadhi, women of integrity, we shall say our truth, we shall speak our mind and what you choose to do with that is none of our business... This here is a woman whose hands build and mould and it grows... In the grief, she spoke and she spoke her truth, with grace and pomp, she did it her way. Mos Headgirl wa. Mos Jaber. Participation is not enough. Africans must own the systems, platforms, and narratives shaping the continent’s future. That was the heartbeat of our second panel discussion at the WITIA Creative Show 2026, Art, Technology & Africa’s Innovation Ecosystem. From data ownership to culture, language, and Indigenous knowledge systems, the conversation challenged what innovation in Africa should truly look like and who gets to shape it. Africa is not waiting to become innovative. It already is. Thank you to Njoki Kimwaki, @timothy.laku , @olivia_naliaka , Trivia Kairu, and moderator @drzippyokoth for a conversation that left the room thinking deeper. #witia2026 #witiacreativeshow2026 #CreativeEconomy #DigitalInnovation #womenintech #DigitalInclusion

“Innovation cannot grow without intentional ecosystems, collaboration, and access.” At the WITIA Creative Show 2026, our opening panel explored what it truly takes for women to thrive in the creative economy. The discussion highlighted lived realities in tech and creative industries, including funding gaps, mentorship access, visibility pressure, and imposter syndrome, as well as how frameworks like the Creative Economy Bill and Copyright Act are shaping Kenya’s creative space, ownership, and value creation. The message was clear: innovation does not grow in isolation. It needs intentional ecosystems built on access, collaboration, and real lived experience. This is the core of why WITIA exists, to advance access, skills, and opportunity for women and young people shaping Africa’s digital and creative future. Thank you to our panelists @kevinkahuro , Roselyne A. Olewe Nyunya, @susan_analytics , @maureenbandari , Dr. Evelyn Ojiambo-Hongo, and our moderator @drzippyokoth for your insights and contribution. #WITIA2026 #CreativeEconomy #WomenInTech #DigitalInclusion
