Bad habits can be unformed, and new ones can be built. That is the power of a changeable brain. If you feel like your focus is scattered, remember that your brain has the capacity to adapt and improve. If youโ€™re ready to start building those new habits to regain your focus, join me and @tamsenfadal as we discuss navigating ADHD in adulthood and the lifestyle changes that actually work. Connection is practiced, not just found. Using micro-tracking helps reduce the metabolic cost of communication and builds a foundation of being truly "seen." #mentalhealth #beingseen #connection #relationships #attunement

You told yourself five minutes. Now itโ€™s been an hour. You feel worse, but you canโ€™t stop scrolling. First, change your body positionโ€”stand up and move. Physical movement interrupts the trance. Second, put your phone out of sight. What you canโ€™t see is harder to return to. Third, use your handsโ€”do something simple and physical to replace the scrolling loop. Then, make it harder next time with boundaries like timers or phone-free spaces. Doomscrolling isnโ€™t a character flaw. Itโ€™s a loop your nervous system gets stuck in. And loops can be interrupted. #Doomscrolling #DigitalWellbeing #MentalHealthAwareness #StressHabits #drtraceymarks

Are we self-diagnosing, or are we finally getting answers? The truth is, many women are just now uncovering ADHD as life gets more complex. Once you have the answer, the next step is focus. For more on reclaiming your clarity, check out my conversation with @tamsenfadal . We discussed the specific lifestyle changes that help you get your focus back when navigating ADHD later in life. If being known feels like being exposed, your brain is likely stuck in a defensive posture. Recognize that your "shutting down" is a protective reflex, not a lack of affection. #mentalhealth #beingknown #beingseen

Signs your โ€œgut feelingโ€ is actually hypervigilance: โ€ข Your gut says โ€œnoโ€ to almost everything โ€ข You canโ€™t explain the feeling with specifics โ€ข You feel unsafe in objectively safe situations Intuition is calm and specific. Hypervigilance is loud and vague. Learn which signals are data and which are echoes. Send this to someone who says no to everything based on a feeling. Is it your imagination, or is it ADHD? I find that using a screening tool is a great way to get a real sense of what you're experiencing before you see a clinician for a proper evaluation. I explored this and more with @tamsenfadal Fadal, specifically looking at how to stay resilient and keep your mental energy high as you age. Feeling "at home" with someone is a measurable neurological event. It occurs when your brain finds a safe mirror in another personโ€™s non-verbal cues. #mentalhealth #feelingathome #nervoussystem #oxytocin #neuralresonance

"Stop falling for it" isn't a plan. Your brain needs something specific to do in the moment. Three small moves that bring your thinking brain back to the table when intensity hits: Slow the meaning-making. Ask yourself how much you actually know about this person, compared to how strongly you feel about them. The question doesn't invalidate the feelingโ€”it just lets your prefrontal cortex back into the conversation. Separate feeling from evidence. Forget the heightened moments. What has this person shown you through repeated actions over time? Name the withdrawal. When you feel the urgency to reconnect or decode, tell yourself plainly: my brain is registering this as a loss. Once you understand that the pain circuitry is amplifying how profound the bond actually was, you stop using the strength of your reaction as proof that the relationship was uniquely important. Knowing what the pull is made of doesn't stop the feeling. It changes what you do with it. Part 5 of 5. โ€” Dr. Tracey Marks #MentalHealth #lovebombing #awareness
