Drone Sector (@drone.sector ) is an alias and indefinite project by Stan Herben, an Amsterdam-based audiovisual artist.
The project serves as a realm to explore dystopian themes, technological singularity, exobiology, and the sublime through generative art and experimental sound design.
Deeply inspired by science fiction and a machine-driven future, Stan aims to create worlds that evoke a sense of alienation and discovery.
Drone Sector’s work was selected from our Open Call for visual artists and will be displayed on our largest LED Wall in the museum’s entrance hall for one week only, starting today, May 5.
Visit Nxt Museum and discover Drone Sector’s work. 👾
Two of the three visuals that I managed to capture during @demo.festival
A design in motion festival, where the work is displayed across 100+ screens around The Netherlands, in trainstations and public spaces. Very grateful to have been selected and already hyped for the next edition.
Hopefully I can catch the third visual on the replay soon

Positronic is an ongoing series of generative audiovisual artworks exploring the artificial computational brains of the future. These intelligent systems operate and sustain a vast, technologically dependent society that may remain abstract and ultimately incomprehensible. Themes such as dystopia, the sublime, technological singularity, and the anxiety they evoke are central to the series.
After many years of experimenting with visuals and sound, I have finally finished and released the first Drone Sector track, Positronic ChronoRemap, which is available on Bandcamp and SoundCloud via the link in bio.

In my audiovisual exploration with the Drone Sector project, I have always had the primary focus on improving my skills in visual art, world building, and sound design. To explore all the directions that I had in mind and to let the quality and output grow evenly, I decided to balance my time equally. All the tracks made just served one purpose, to support and build upon the atmospheres that I wanted to create. But to take this project to the next step, I felt it was time to give the sonic side its place as well.

Positronic is an ongoing series of generative audiovisual artworks exploring the complexities of the artificial computational brains of the future. To accompany the visual journey through these endless remapping states of artificial consciousness, I explored ways to make the audio relate to it on a fundamental level. Evolving, remapping, fading while posing a certain threat. Which seems to be a recurring pattern in my work lately.
Cheers
(Sadly not on vinyl yet, just an image, but maybe in the future, a Positronic EP perhaps)
