With 10+ events a year, I don’t get to do too many “extracurricular” driving activities so you bet I took advantage of this. These GT Radial SX2s died a glorious smoky death.
This is the car guy equivalent of giving your tires a viking funeral. 🛞🔥💨

Been a minute since I’ve done a TBT so I’m throwing it back this Thursday to Gridlife Laguna 2024. Marvelous photos by @nycska 📸
I feel like I always throwback to this event but it was just such a monumental moment in my driving experience that I always look back on it fondly, even if the results didn’t show on paper. So many (helpful) friends made and one of the few times I actually camped at a track (I don’t think my back has ever recovered lol). I’d like to thank @counterspacegarage for supporting me despite me being in over my head. At least the parts that made up my car were the least of my worries.
With 86Cup headed to Laguna at the end of this month, I’m hopeful I can get the car refreshed enough to better my times now that I’ve grown as a driver and have a better understanding of 200tw tires. Fender liners flying out are the least of my worries at the moment in 2026 compared to this date in 2024.
The mission for 2026 is to earn at least a W somewhere for my personal car, even if it means having it up completely running, maintenance refreshed and whatever else comes with owning a BRZ that has seen 105k miles of track abuse, canyon runs, roadtrips to NorCal/Texas and daily driving in between.

Traffic was absolutely brutal all day in Orange group. It was basically wheel to wheel the entire time for me it seemed. It is what it is. I did end up doing 2:03.435 at the end of it all even though I was “dicking around” in the bonus session.
Not many folks can give ridealongs/advice, do photography, organize a time trial series, attempt to diagnose a fellow competitors’ issue with an unknown tuning software for an ECU you have no experience with and still manage to lock in a decent time. I’m sure if I didn’t do all that I could be faster but again, I’m not in it for awards. Like they said in the show Loki, “I got a drawer full of these”
Nonetheless thankful to all my friends in @socal86cup and @counterspacegarage for letting me chase that metaphorical rabbit in the @csgspec GR86.
I know what you’re all wondering. We’ll go over this last second audible soon.

Fun run at Chuckwalla for Round 2 of @socal86cup and @gr.movement in the @counterspacegarage@csgspec Toyota GR86 with SARD aero and Maxxis VR2. Also shout out @swiss_army_hatchback for being my passenger side weight ballast and fuel later on in the day to go faster.
Test run of my new DJI Osmo Action 6. No color grading, no settings changes, not even microphones or dead cat devices. Just as is plugged to the side of my helmet for the most part.
It did really well as you can see! Definitely could’ve used the windscreen and some ND filters to make the windshield view clearer but otherwise not bad for the folks who want to be lazy (such as myself).
Anyway, enjoy this non-educational, non-analytical lap in session 3 on a 100 degree ambient day at Chuckwalla chasing down some 86Cup friends in this wonderful machine that far outpaces my skill level.

Part 1(86?) of de-junkyfing my car. This banner has arguably been to hell and back. It lived a good life but the recent heatwave really killed the vinyl. Maybe I’ll print another one some day but for now we enjoy the “clean” look.
Busted out the pressure washer for the first time in YEARS at home and gave this car a proper bath.
