I wrote a whole thing over on Driven By Boredom about how I ended up photographing the great Robert Duvall multiple times and even ended up shooting a party for him. He’s one of my all time favorite actors and I was honored to be able to photograph him.
I photographed @riki.band for @creemmag a while ago and I finally got around to uploading a bunch of the out takes. Here’s a nice mix of my favorite vertical shots, photographed digitally, on color film and black and white. Creem went with a color film shot which you can see in the last carousel slide.
You can see a bunch more photos and a write up over on drivenbyboredom.
Twenty years ago I did my first solo show when I was in art school at VCU. The show wasn’t much to speak of but it was the very beginning of the raw, spontaneous portrait style I’m known for now.
Recently I found all the photo lab prints from the dozens of shoots I did for the show and I was able to organize them into twenty batches of 50 images. I found clamshell photo storage boxes and made a custom label based on the original show postcard. I signed and numbered each set out of an edition of 20.
The super limited set of 1/1 prints is available at my brand new web store: Shopdbb.com
For Halloween I visited @rebysky and took some spooky photos of her and the infamous Goth Baby. 👻
More photos and a write up over on Driven By Boredom…
If you’re wondering why you are seeing this post again or why it’s a day late it’s because I somehow uploaded super low resolution images and didn’t notice until it was a day late. Happy Day of the Dead. 💀
On Saturday I went to Beeple’s Pepe Fest in Charleston, SC and then wrote a far too long blog post about it trying to explain to people what a Beeple is and why anyone would throw a party for a meme. Blog and nearly 150 photos are on Driven By Boredom now.
I found this never before published Mac Miller photo I took at the 2012 MTV Woodie Awards.
The lighting wasn’t great and I didn’t really know who he was back then so I never bothered to edit the photo until I rediscovered it last night while looking for @vintagedbb photos.
The second shot was the only decent photo I remembered taking of him that night.
I had every intention of posting these photos of @knifegrlfriend in January but AVN and my move got in the way. Fortunately for you I have two more shoots with Dylan that I will probably manage to get up eventually.
The photos and write up are on my website as per usual.
It’s been a while since I mentioned the Ballpoint Pens archive, but slowly, one song a week @teddyblanks is releasing remastered versions of our friend Ross’ songs that were found on his computer when he died over a decade ago. Ross was like a brother to me and when he died I would listen to his song Symphony over and over again trying to grieve.
This updated version of the song was mixed by @skyway_man and I made a quick teaser video from some old Mini DV footage of Ross and Teddy’s band The Gaskets performing in a shed behind my brother’s old apartment in Austin, TX.
You can listen to the full song, the original version and a growing library of Ross’s music at ballpointpensarchive dotcom.
