We got it working boys!! I thought cracked expansion tank was my issue “ or head lol” but finally found a failing gasket on the lower intake manifold coolant passage.. Track side repairs with the guys are way more fun then fixing your stuff at home by yourself 🫶🏻 #triptothepond #180sx #sr20
I am officially back from retirement. We have something very special to showcase today. This car originally belonged to Takahiro Yamamoto and drove in D1 in early 2000s. A customer of mine @drift.things later purchased the car and imported it to the US soil. He came to me with an idea to recreate the original livery from that time, which had almost 0 images avaliable and all the avaliable ones were extremely blurry. After countless hours of archives and research, thanks to @defense4444 we got ahold of Takahiro Yamamoto himself and managed to get archive footage which allowed us to recreate the livery 1 to 1. It feels truly special to be a part of this project, I got to touch an inspiring piece of drift history and was able to add my personal twist to some elements. Can’t wait to see this car complete, I really appreciate everyone who helped to source pictures and videos for this project.

Andrew from @drift.things got to live the dream a couple weeks ago when he brought his old D1GP 180sx comp car from the early 2000s with a stroked 2.2L SR20 and Nismo crossmission reinforced S15 6-speed that he imported from Japan and his fully built M52 turbo E36 to the @selectdriving Club event at Polecat Training Center and let his friend Carlos drive the BMW for the weekend! I also got to ride in both cars and couldn’t believe how fast the 180 was! It was easily one of the best s-chassis drift cars I’ve ever been in so if you see him at an event make sure to try and get a ride with him so you can see what a proper old school drift car from Japan feels like!
