I’m so sad to share the passing of our extraordinary dad last week. Ray was, without a doubt, the kindest man I’ve ever met and was just the all-around best. He liked to tinker and fix things, was a brilliant musician, and loved nature. He always led by example and never raised his voice (which is remarkable considering what we put them through in our younger years). My brother recently described him as equal parts Bob Ross, Norm Abram, Bob Newhart, and Fred Rogers and that is a perfect summary. He was endlessly patient and loved us all deeply.
I had never heard of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease before this year, but damn if that isn’t an absolute heartbreaker. Throughout the illness, he showed such strength and acceptance while the rest of us were spinning.
Our mom was the absolute love of his life and they shared the most amazing marriage - so much respect and care for one another. They have been best friends since they met and they were together right until the very end. Love is an action and they showed us all how to do it.
Thanks to everyone for the kind words, time spent sharing stories and laughs over the past few weeks - we had the best celebration for him!
And thanks for all the memories, lessons, and laughs, Dad - you will be missed deeply.
