We’re entering the era of the working class artist.
And I don’t think people fully understand how big of a shift that is.
For the longest time, the music industry sold one dream:
👉 Become a superstar or you failed.
But today… that’s not the only path anymore.
Because of platforms like Spotify, YouTube, and TikTok artists don’t just rely on labels to build careers.
You can:
• Drop music consistently
• Build your own audience
• Talk directly to your fans
• Monetize in multiple ways
Streaming. Touring. Content. Brand deals. Direct-to-fan.
That changes everything.
Now instead of chasing one viral moment…
you can build something repeatable.
And that’s where the “working class artist” comes in.
Not the artist with 10 million fans…
But the artist with 5,000–20,000 real supporters.
The kind of fans that:
• Show up to shows
• Buy merch
• Stream consistently
• Actually care
That’s a business.
But let’s be real for a second…
This doesn’t mean it’s easy.
Making $40–50K a year from music isn’t about luck — it’s about:
Consistency. Systems. Discipline.
You have to think like a creator AND an entrepreneur.
Because in this era, being an artist is closer to running a small business than chasing a record deal.
And while this is happening…
Superstars didn’t disappear.
Artists like Drake and Taylor Swift are still operating at a massive scale actually bigger than ever.
So the game isn’t “superstars vs everyone else” anymore…
It’s tiers.
1% → Superstars
5–10% → Sustainable, working class artists
Everyone else → Still figuring it out
And honestly?
That middle tier might be the most important shift in the modern music industry.
Because it gives artists something we didn’t have before:
A realistic path to make a living off the art without having to become famous.
The goal isn’t just to go viral anymore.
It’s to build something that lasts.

Yesterday, I made a real decision I rededicated my life to Christ.
For a long time, I called myself a Christian, but I wasn’t fully surrendered to the calling God placed on my life. I moved like Peter at times close to Jesus when it was comfortable or beneficial, but hesitant to stand boldly for Him when it cost something.
But yesterday, that changed.
I chose to let go of fear, fear of how I’m perceived, fear of fully walking in who God created me to be. I chose obedience over comfort. I chose truth over image. I chose Christ fully, not halfway.
@lecrae it said “whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again“ This the one man I can feel it! 🤞🏾🙆🏾♂️ #lecrae #livingwater
Sorry @shan_mcnaughton lot on my mind! 😅
no amount of analytics can override my gut.
@julaniaustin is special.
I stumbled on his album and have had it on repeat ever since. It’s been a minute since I’ve been genuinely obsessed with a new artist. He reminds me of what hip-hop felt like in the blog era.
Rooting for you to Blow Up Bro!!! Keep going you got something special!
