I hate wasting space and energy and as I get older, I really only want to be in places where I can make a difference or learn something. .
Yesterday was about both 🙌🏿 I was invited to lead a vision board workshop at Perry Elementary for a group of 8th grade girls and it was fun and empowering especially for me lol.

I love speaking to our youth, finding out what they like, dislike, their concerns and understanding why. I love listening to their non cynical answers to questions and how they express themselves in so many creative ways. .
One thing I love about vision boarding is how everybody can have the same supplies and materials but the final outcome will always be different because it's so personal. .
When ever I do a workshop like this I always ask the participants to explain their boards because it causes them to verbalize their thoughts, goals and aspirations and forces them to say these things out loud.

And that's how shit becomes real 💯💯💯💯

Last Saturday I was invited to speak to kids about social media etiquette at the #MyArtMyPurposeMyPassion Conference hosted by the super talented @dreteahn_thisisme !! .
It was cool to hear how artistic kids ages 6-13 use social media (to watch/observe) and what they thought of it. .
One little girl told me "I make videos with my dogs for YouTube, but they NEVER see my face, only my hands cause they dont deserve to see my face!" AND I FELT THAT 😂😂😂

Immediately after I was done I went home and changed for the annual Breaking the Chains of Human Trafficking Gala for the Renee Jones Empowerment Center.

I have been volunteering at the center for several years and at past galas but this was my first time being invited as a guest! I had a great time and was honored to attend. .
This weekend I did nothing! Well besides get caught up watching my ratchet TV shows, shopped for my son and went new wig hunting 😂

Yesterday was the coolest!

I was invited to host the fashion show at a high tea yesterday by a local group of fabulous women that teach etiquette and other skills to young girls and it was an amazing event!
.
My son is a part of a spoken word group that performs all over called The Distinguished Gentleman. They performed before the show and everything was just full circle for us both.
.
When my son was a toddler and I was just getting started in this fashion industry he came with me to every meeting, photo shoot, fashion show, fitting, event, fundraiser, class, etc and kept himself busy with a bag full of activities and snacks lol.
.
Yesterday for the first we actually "worked" the same event and it felt good! My son is 16, is in his last year of hs and preparing to go off to college next year so our time spent together is precious to me. I don't have a traditional 9-5 so we have to take our pockets of time however tf they come lol.

I didn't raise my son in the most traditional manner, this I know for sure. But so far it's been working for us 🙌🏿💪🏿😍💁🏿♀️
