As a New Yorker who has worked in the fashion industry for over a decade, it’s safe to say I’m so in love with Love Story, especially having crossed paths with JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy in Manhattan in the 90s.
Both Catholics, they attended my school church, St. Ignatius of Loyola, where Jackie O’s funeral was held.
With their refined, understated New York elegance, they were my favorite couple. They were true New Yorkers.
She was warm and loving. One day at church, a little girl reached up to touch the ends of her blonde hair. Carolyn took her hand, gently caressed it, and smiled into her eyes. She was a girl’s girl.
Striking in person, her style was classic and confident, shaped by an effortless ease. She chose pieces with precise tailoring and impeccable lines, wearing them with unwavering certainty. She would rather show her collarbone than cleavage. She carried herself and her clothes with class and grace, staying true to herself.
John had a quiet confidence, grounded, humble, never performative. There was an authenticity about him that made him so compelling.
We shared the same signs, Sagittarius sun and Aquarius moon, which explains why I always felt so drawn and comfortable around him. Adventurous, old-fashioned, quietly fearless. With his cool, classic style, he was the epitome of a man in my eyes.
We’d run into each other at
@bubbys in Tribeca, always ordering a cheeseburger and fries. He’d ask, “Did you get the burger?” I’d say the same. We’d point at each other, laugh, and smile.
They were always close, holding hands, small gestures, a quiet affection.
I still think of them that way, somewhere in heaven, still holding hands, Carolyn tossing her hair, John eating a cheeseburger.
Congratulations to the entire cast and crew.
From the cowl-neck wedding dress to a deliberately beaten Birkin, perfect-length Levi’s, and that tan Prada military coat with the belt, to the Armani suits, wallet chains, backward hats, and red striped shorts,
@rudymance nailed every look.
Having worked with Rudy, I can say firsthand he’s meticulous in his mastery.
The music defined the decade, perfectly matched to each storyline.
