I hated this tonight. My baby was tired, hungry and overstimulated. But he didn't want me. He wanted his nanny because she feeds, soothes and cares for him more than I do. Spends more time with him than I do!
It broke me. Do I quit? I'm not sure I have the answer tonight but I know im not alone.

Doctors are taught medicine, not business and that’s one of the biggest gaps in healthcare.
We spend years mastering diagnosis, treatment, surgery, emergency care, clinical decision-making etc but very few healthcare professionals are formally taught:
• operations
• marketing
• leadership
• finance
• pricing
• patient retention
• systems
• staff management
• sustainability
Yet these are the very things that determine whether a healthcare business thrives or struggles. Excellent clinical care alone is not enough to build a sustainable practice.
You can be highly skilled clinically and still:
❌️undercharge for value
❌️burn out from poor systems
❌️experience staff inefficiency
❌️struggle with structure
❌️lose revenue quietly
When healthcare businesses are poorly managed, the effects eventually reach both staff and patients.
Profitable healthcare is not about greed.
It is about sustainability, growth, better service delivery, improved patient experience, and the ability to build systems that last.
The future of healthcare (especially in Nigeria) requires a marriage of clinical excellence and business intelligence. We must be equipped to save lives AND build healthy institutions.

Exactly 13 years ago today, I stood up and took my Hippocratic Oath. But the real commitment, the innate desire to "help those who see what others could not see and hear things others cannot hear" as I told my mum then, started when I was just five years old, practicing "medicine" on my favorite doll. (Swipe to see!)
Looking back on these 13 years, I am filled with gratitude. My path has evolved from clinical medicine into Health Administration, where I now work as a Practice Manager to ensure that systems are built with integrity, compassion, impecable customer experience and excellence.
But this journey was never a solo one. I am so proud to have made my parents proud, my then-boyfriend—now my incredible husband proud, and most of all, to have made that little five-year-old girl, Chibuki, proud. Being able to stand here today, in these photos, with the people who have seen me through every stage of this growth, means the world to me.
Here’s to 13 years of honoring that mission and the village that made it all possible. 🥂❤️
