A past participant of RECLAIM told me recently, “I don’t feel ashamed anymore.” And it wasn’t because anyone had successfully talked her out of it (if only it was that easy!) No, she was able to let go of shame after practicing embodied safety, through dance, in a community of survivors. Shame lives in the body. It shows up as contraction, hiding, bracing, fawning. Only when the body experiences safety again can we finally shed shame. Watching that shift happen NEVER gets old 💖 RECLAIM is a closed, 12-week group that uses dance and sensual movement for the embodied healing of trauma. This group is SO beautiful. I freaking love this work, and I am so honored to bring it back. The next cohort starts in April, Tuesday evenings in Atwater Village. If this speaks to you, comment RECLAIM and I’ll send you the details. #EmbodiedHealing #TraumaRecovery #SomaticTherapy #ShameHealing #ReclaimYourBody

For those of us feeling everything going on in the world recently in our bodies. In our nervous systems. You’re not alone, and it’s not your fault. I wrote a piece about why this happens, and what can help. Link in bio 🤍

I have taken all of my education as a clinical psychologist, training in trauma therapy and trauma-informed movement facilitation, and my lived experience as a survivor who has used movement to heal, and made it into a 12-week program that combines sensual movement, talking, and processing for women and femmes (inclusive of trans and NB folks). It’ll happen on Sunday afternoons at a dance studio in Los Angeles (90027), starting in October. No prior movement experience is necessary. Interested? When the trauma happened to the body, we need to use the body to fully heal. Experiences like sexual assault, abuse, harassment, and intimate partner violence can leave us feeling shame about our bodies. We start to feel bad about the way we are. We feel afraid to take up space. Yes, therapy helps, but as a teacher of pole dancing and sensual movement of over 10 years, let me tell you - emBODYing this energy can make a HUGE difference in trauma recovery. I know this because I’ve experienced it myself. I have taken all of my education as a clinical psychologist + training as a trauma therapy and trauma-informed movement facilitation + my lived experience as a survivor who has used movement to heal, and designed THIS 12-week program ♥️ If you’re interested, or have questions at all, email me at [email protected] or message me here. This work is truly my passion. This exact group is why I got into the field of psychology in the first place! I’m so grateful to be able to offer it and so excited to start. #DanceTherapy #SomaticTherapy #EmbodiedConfidence #WomensEmpowerment #TraumaHealing #TherapyForWomen #NervousSystemHealing #ConfidenceFromWithin #TherapyTools #MindBodyConnection #EmbodimentPractice #DanceHeals #TraumaSensitiveYoga #TherapyReels #EmpowermentThroughMovement #HealThroughMovement

Your nervous system is wise—it’s always working to protect you. But when you’ve experienced trauma, it can get stuck in survival mode. Trauma sensitive yoga offers a gentle way back into connection with your body. Through intentional movement, we create space for regulation, safety, and healing. 🧘🏽‍♀️ The next round of my trauma sensitive yoga group starts July 15
✨ No experience needed ✨ Online (for anyone in CA) ✨ Small group
✨ Sliding scale payment If you’re curious, I’d love to hear from you.

A ‘lil snippet of what dance therapy is like with @drcatliang 🥰 Soft & Strong was a SMASHING success! We danced, we laughed, we even cried a little. But mostly, we gathered in community. Within a trauma-informed container, with fellow Asian femmes, we explored sensual movement and RECLAIMED our sexy. We were brave, vulnerable, and we took a step towards healing. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF) for supporting this event through the Asian Women Leaders in Philanthropy grant. Who’s ready for more?? Drop a 🙋🏻‍♀️ in the comments if you want Dr Cat x AMHP to host this workshop again! #SomaticHealing #MovementAsMedicine #TraumaInformed #EmbodiedHealing #AsianFemmes #AAPIHealing #AsianMentalHealth #AAPIWomen #ReclaimYourSexy
