This weekend we hosted the first big official *in-person* gathering of the DrawTogether Grown Ups Table at
@sfmoma - and it was awesome. We laughed, we cried, we drew flowers. In collaboration with
@birchsf and
@sfmoma , we payed homage to the work/life/art of a personal SF hero artist/educator/advocate
@ruthasawaofficial . We warmed up our eyes, hands, and hearts with some #drawtogetherstrangers, then did some Ruth inspired warm-ups, then everyone put their attention and pens to floral arrangements created by
@birchsf based on Ruth’s own flower drawings - including one huge collaborative group drawing, which was awesome. There is so much pulling us apart right now. It feels so good and deeply important to create IRL spaces to slow down, look closely at each other and the world, and create something beautiful and special together. And it was super fun.
Thank you thank you
@rahsallthat for documenting it all and making this wonderful little video that captures the days feeling so well, and to the awesome GUT team
@akmercog @candycakes @kylerw and art auntie Kathleen, and Kathleen and Chloe at SFMOMA, and Torryne at Birch, and Henry and Vivian of
@ruthasawaofficial - and everyone in and around our beloved GUT creative community - we did it!!!
And if you can get to the Asawa exhibit at SFMOMA- go! And bring a sketchbook. :)
Everything is better when we DrawTogether ❤️✏️❤️
