IT’s HERE!! After a ton of hard work and a whole lot of love, The DrawTogether Studio doors are OPEN! (We have a website, booking process, and systems, oh my!) And we can’t wait to see you here.Check out DrawTogetherStudio dot com, and follow @drawtogether.studio . I think a lot of us are feeling a need to gather in person and make stuff together, to deepen our connections and resilience. Hopefully that’s what the DT Studio can help provide. We are a creative community studio where artists and makers and can host, teach, and share. A place where we can learn a new skill, try something new, deepen a practice, and just be around new creative friends. Space fees are kept low to create a circle of mutual support. The amazing @lenawolffstudio is running programming for the Studio, so you the classes and community is all going to be so special. With the help of superhero @kylerw we built a super easy to navigate site where you can learn more / go check it out, plus a whole darn system to run this thing. (Link in the bio!) We already have a bunch of amazing workshops coming up. Have one you want to offer? Got an idea? Requests? Suggestions? We are building this WITH YOU so please share - email “events at DrawTogetherStudio dot com.” And follow @drawtogether.studio ! BIG UPS TO THE DT STUDIO PEEPS: @lenawolffstudio @kylerw @akmercog @mollypillotonlam @bakedtina @baggermaniac AND BIG LOVE TO OUR STUDIO BUDDIES @inpursuitoftea @brownestate @dion_ceramics See you soon! PENCILS UP! ❤️✏️❤️

Grateful for these excellent comics artist friends whose idea of a good time is working together nonstop 9-5 for two weekends and every moment we could cram in between. Comics Save!

The White House just announced they gave Smithsonian Museums 120 days to “replace diverse or ideologically driven language with unifying, historically accurate and constructive descriptions.” And so: DrawTogether & the Grown-Ups Table will focus our immediate efforts on the importance of making art during fascism, and fighting tyranny with creativity. In our future-facing, connection driven, curiosity sparking, and imagination inducing way. (It’s the only way.) Special edition starting this Sunday. Join us.

This weekend we hosted the first big official *in-person* gathering of the DrawTogether Grown Ups Table at @sfmoma - and it was awesome. We laughed, we cried, we drew flowers. In collaboration with @birchsf and @sfmoma , we payed homage to the work/life/art of a personal SF hero artist/educator/advocate @ruthasawaofficial . We warmed up our eyes, hands, and hearts with some #drawtogetherstrangers, then did some Ruth inspired warm-ups, then everyone put their attention and pens to floral arrangements created by @birchsf based on Ruth’s own flower drawings - including one huge collaborative group drawing, which was awesome. There is so much pulling us apart right now. It feels so good and deeply important to create IRL spaces to slow down, look closely at each other and the world, and create something beautiful and special together. And it was super fun. Thank you thank you @rahsallthat for documenting it all and making this wonderful little video that captures the days feeling so well, and to the awesome GUT team @akmercog @candycakes @kylerw and art auntie Kathleen, and Kathleen and Chloe at SFMOMA, and Torryne at Birch, and Henry and Vivian of @ruthasawaofficial - and everyone in and around our beloved GUT creative community - we did it!!! And if you can get to the Asawa exhibit at SFMOMA- go! And bring a sketchbook. :) Everything is better when we DrawTogether ❤️✏️❤️

Come draw with me this Saturday, 2pm at SFMOMA!! I’m collaborating with @sfmoma and @birchsf to celebrate @ruthasawaofficial ’s amazing work - her close looking and loving through drawing, her curiosity, attention, care, and craft, and her flowers. (HER FLOWERS.) This is the first BIG IRL gathering of @drawtogether.studio Grown-Ups Table peeps - DT members, let’s meet each other in person at last! (Kids welcome too, obvs, duh.) EVERYONE is invited, of course. It’s free. GUT paid subscribers get discounted admission to the museum. Event RSVPs maxed out in a few hours, but come anyway!! People always ditch out last minute, and we will have a stand by line, and we’ll make sure everyone gets to draw one way or another. Bring your drawing supplies, and we’ll have more on hand if you need some or forget. No artists lefts behind. Let’s gather in person to Draw Together in Ruth’s spirit. I know I could use it. You? Link with more info in my bio.

Best thing EVER. The incredible artist/educator/nature-journaler @katerutter came to visit the DrawTogether Studio and then made this scale model!? Aaahhhhhh!!!! Dying. 😭😍✏️🥰 Kate is such a thoughtful, smart, curious, engaging artist, and she will be teaching nature journaling classes at the studio in the future. It’s going to be so rad. Keep your eyes here and on our website for more info! Love you Kate!

Dream come true: @drawtogether.studio continues our collaboration with @sfmoma & @ruthasawaofficial with a IRL flower drawing event on August 9 at 2pm. We will gather in person, (visit the Asawa exhibit if you haven’t already,) and draw together IN PERSON. Finally!! I’ll give a little hot take on Ruth’s work before we start, then we’ll make drawings based on her patterns and abstraction, and draw epic flowers inspired by her flower drawings. We’ll even do a Collaborative group flower drawing! Our floral models will be custom arrangements created by the brilliant @birchsf using Ruth’s drawings and inspiration. It’s gonna be one big circle of floral-drawing-inspo-life. Most of all, we will get to hang out IN PERSON AND DRAW at the museum. A great way to meet fellow DrawTogether members in person, at last. This is a grown-up focused event, but all ages and skill levels are welcome. The event is FREE and DrawTogether/GUT members get a discount to the Asawa exhibit. Info to RSVP is on my Substack: Club.DrawTogther.Studio Big thanks to GUT team members @akmercog and @candycakes for the hard work to make this happen.
