It took me a while to understand this:
My factory settings were never broken.
My original operating system? Peaceful on the inside. Joyful at the core. And naturally wired to create fun and delight in life on the outside.
Because once I stopped being quite so mesmerized by my thoughts and feelings and more interested in the underlying operating system, I started feeling better, and the "problems" I was so consumed by resolved themselves. Maybe—just maybe—we run best when we remember how we were designed to begin with.
That is what meditation has taught me.

Talking about the mind is the opposite of serious.
When we can open to the bugs in our operating system and see them for what they are: just bugs, we can laugh at ourselves and find our way home to our natural, gorgeous factory settings. I love the THRIVE MIND!!!!

This is a short video I created from my clients to remember the most important thing.
The highest form of meditation which yields the greatest joy in this life is the capacity to stay open. We are naturally open, creative and joyful.
So the skill is actually to not close.
I can tell you from personal experience that this is a vulnerable skill! 🙏

There is a huge silence inside each of us that beckons us into itself, and the recovery of our own silence can begin to teach us the language of heaven.
— Meister Eckhart
On March 19, I lost my second mother. Who gets that lucky to have two amazing moms? Jane was fearless and funny and I am so grateful for her.
If you have memories of her, please put in comments or reach out!
Jane Paul didn't just enter a room — she expanded it. Born in Montreal on March 11, 1939, she had a natural gift for building bridges between people and cultures.
For decades, Jane brought that energy into her middle school classroom in Dover, Pennsylvania, teaching Spanish, German, and French. Languages were never just the subject — they were the invitation. She gave everything to her students, and cheerfully refused to let a single reluctant learner off the hook.
Her heart lived in Chester, Nova Scotia, where Crows Nest Farm was her anchor. In 1989, she discovered Nevis, and Nevis discovered her right back. She built a home there and, over the years, built something even more enduring: a community. She knew everyone by name, saw potential in people they couldn't yet see in themselves, and never accepted anyone's status quo as the final word. If you doubt the reach of one woman's life, say the name Jane Paul to a stranger on the street in Nevis — chances are, someone will have a story.
Jane met the love of her life, Ron Paul, when he was a medical student at McGill University. Together they built a life measured not in things, but in experiences, in people, and in everything they gave away along the way.
She is survived by her husband Ron Paul; her children Mike, Ian, Barbara, and Maureen; her grandchildren Jake, Lukas, Bridget, Emily, and April; her sister Ellen Hebb; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her beloved grandson Alex Paul.
Her ashes will be scattered at Crows Nest Farm. The family will gather in August in Nova Scotia to celebrate her life.
The world is quieter without Jane Paul in it. But somewhere, a door is opening, and everyone in the room is about to become a friend.
