These are some of the quotes from our very own @ericangelo_ms and @dr.dct3 on how where we are five years after George Floyd, and where we need to be.
Have you had the chance to read it yet? If not, check the link in our bio!
Today in class, a student asked me, “how do you manage to be involved in so much, and like, actually make change?”
To start my more long winded response about time management, still navigating challenges, learning data skills, and relationship building, I started my response with, “respectfully, I’m Him.”
One thing I learned from therapy and my own mental health journey, was that when people would attempt to harm me, they would make me feel small, as if I didn’t matter. As someone who stands 6’5, you can imagine what that does to you - when people look down on you, even when they still have to physically look up.
As I celebrate my 32nd birthday going into the weekend (May 23rd was the day y’all!), let this serve as a reminder to you to, respectfully, talk your shit. Own your dopeness. Someone benefits when you make yourself small and dim your light.
Don’t let them.

On April 24th,I had the privilege to present the findings of the 2026 People’s Budget to the Budget and Finance Committee with @blmlosangeles . After 6 years and 35,000 surveys, our findings are clear - invest in resources for our people, and divest in the departments, tools, and places that harm them.
If you want to get involved, go to LA City Council Meetings, submit public comments online, and raise your voice. We don’t have to accept a city budget that doesn’t prioritize us.
How would you invest city resources?
ABMoC’s Policy Briefing and Lobby Day at the Sacramento Capitol brings together grassroots leaders from across California to align on shared policy priorities, strengthen relationships across our statewide network, and take collective action.
The day centers the leadership of boys and men of color and their communities, providing space to build strategy, deepen political alignment, and engage directly with legislators to advance community-driven solutions. These priorities were voted on at our 2025 ABMoC Policy Summit held in Oakland, California.

As we gear up for our policy briefing tomorrow, we wanted to reshare this latest piece in @guardian by our very own @dr.dct3 and @ericangelo_ms !
If we want to build stronger coalitions, we have to learn how to address harm in our movement spaces. We also have to prioritize deep relationship building and a commitment to repair.
Check out this piece and share it in your movement spaces! There’s so much work to be done, and freedom can only be won together ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿

I’ve been to this conference in so many capacities. As a student, a workshop leader, and now, at this stage of my life, as a keynote speaker.
Big shout out to the team at @afrikanblackcoalition for this invitation, and I can’t wait to get out there and chop it up with California’s Black students! We out here ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
I’ve run long distances before, but normally at the beach, with no major stoplights, freeways or distractions.
Today I decided to switch it up, and I ran all the way from Gardena to my Alma Mater and back again.
We gotta stay physically and mentally strong, especially right now. I’m not the fastest runner at all, but being able to do this without really stopping is serious ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
The brilliant brothas @ericangelo_ms & @dr.dct3 dropped. In to AmandaLand and enlightened us on coalition building and more! Watch the full ep on YT #vfamandaland
