Another year, another list of films that I strongly liked/loved. I feel like I done The Smashing Machine dirty, as I really rated it, but then excluded it from the list. I guess lists aren’t logic. I was charmed by both Pillion and Winter in Sokcho. The first 45 minutes of One Battle After Another were so kinetic. I appreciated the impressionism of Die My Love… and the fierce commitment. House of Dynamite’s tension was put to shame by Warfare. There needs to be more weirdo comedies like Frinedship. Black Bag was elegant. Dangerous Animals did straight horror well. HONOURABLE MENTIONS: Predator: Badlands, Materialists, Sorry (comma) Baby, The Mastermind and Harvest. I wish I got to see Eephus.

Telling a decade long story about a house music DJ’s journey through the Paris dance scene; Eden is as melancholy as it is vibrant. A sprawling epic character study, with little interest in plot, but instead just rides the waves of time.
