A look behind the scenes of international diplomacy🌎
Yesterday we hosted a special screening of the feature-length documentary “Facing War”. This award-winning documentary follows Jens Stoltenberg in his final year as Secretary General of NATO, showing a story about the art of diplomacy and the power play between world leaders.
“This documentary is highlighting Norway’s and NATOs support for Ukraine: as a European country, as NATO allies and as fellow human beings” said Consul General Jo Sletbak as he opened the screening, together with former US Ambassador to Ukraine and Senior Director of the Atlantic Councils Eurasia Center, John E. Herbst.
The screening ended with Q&A with director Tommy Gulliksen and producer Anne Marte Blindheim hosted by Addie Morfoot from Variety, followed by a reception.

Yesterday we hosted a reception with guest of honour Jens Stoltenberg, following a special screening of feature-length documentary ‘Facing War’ and Q&A hosted by Wendy Mitchell. Former Prime Minister and current Norwegian Finance Minister Stoltenberg shared insights from his 10 years as Secretary General of NATO and the making of the film (joined by director Tommy Gulliksen), and answered questions on the current geopolitical situation.
With extraordinary access, Facing War follows Jens Stoltenberg in his final year leading NATO, taking viewers into the heart of international diplomacy and the power play between world leaders. As Russia’s war in Ukraine rages on, U.S. President Joe Biden persuades Jens Stoltenberg to extend his tenure for one final year. During a visit to Kyiv, Stoltenberg vows that the Alliance will stand by President Zelensky ‘for as long as it takes.’ But as Western support falters and divisions among allies deepen, his promise hangs in the balance. All NATO decisions must be unanimous. Stoltenberg must navigate the conflicts and rally all the member nations behind him.
Facing War will be shown in special screenings at @berthadochouse in London on Friday 31 October – 6 November. Book tickets on the cinema’s website. The documentary is shortlisted as one of three Norwegian candidates for Oscar this year.

H.E. Jørn Gloslie, Ambassador of Norway to the Kingdom of Belgium and H.E. David Konecký, Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to NATO addressed the 500+ attendees and NATO representatives and staff at a special screening of "Facing War" in Brussels last week.
Speaking on a post-screening Q&A, moderated by renowned EU/NATO reporter Teri Schultz, director Tommy Gulliksen and Ukrainian human rights defender Maksym Butkevych called on audiences to demand more from our leaders all the while the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, assured Ukraine at the latest EU-Ukraine Association Council that its future lies in the EU.
The special screening of “Facing War” was hosted by One World Film Festival in collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy, Czech Permanent Representation to NATO, Think-Film Impact Production and Dox Division.
