As a birth doula I think it’s fair to say I love birthdays 🎈what’s not fun about celebrating the magic of the day someone you love was born ✨ I appreciate all of you hanging out with me online so I figured my 43rd birthday is a good day to introduce myself to any newbies here 🫶 Hi 👋 I’m Brony or BB - I’m a birth doula based in Melbourne. If you let me, I can talk about birth for dayyysss & I’m so honoured to be invited into this sacred space. I am passionate about women and families being supported with knowledge & love & joy. My job as your doula is not to teach you the right way to give birth. It’s to help you find YOUR way to birth your baby 🌀 I live in Bayside with my husband, our 3 kids and our 3 cats 🐈🐈🐈‍⬛ My favourite things to do is play hockey 🏑 and get lost in a book (audio books counts!!) Taylor Swift sings the words in my heart 🫶🎵 I was born in South Africa 🇿🇦, moved to New Zealand 🇳🇿 with my family when I was a teenager and then fell in love with a cute redhead Aussie 🇦🇺 boy and moved to Melbourne to live happily ever after about 15 years ago. (It’s going well so far 😘) I don’t drink coffee 😱 but I love a g&t! I love all the magic silver hair that is coming through the years, makes me feel more witchy 🧹 Bluey is probably my fav show ever - every episode is 7 minutes of magic!! This year is looking a little different for me, some things by choice, others out of my control but with change comes growth and room to spread your wings. I am working on an exciting project with some of my favourite inspiring women and I can’t wait to share it with you very soon ❤️💜🧡🩷

Our youngest was born 9 years ago - this is my fav photo of the family of 5 - when the girls came in to meet their little baby brother ✨ he was all of 6 hours old at this point ✨how lucky we are that he chose us! His birth was healing in so many ways to me, I had so much support & love around me & little did I know that this boy has the biggest heart and will grow up to give the best snuggles ever 🌈 Happy birthday Zeddy 🎸🏒 Thanks @a.zee.lia for taking this photo and for supporting me & @funlop through this time & thank you @sonsew for looking after the girls - best support crew ever!!

Midwife appreciation post: One person can make a HUGE difference ✨ This angel, midwife Clare @confidentbirthstudio ; walked into the birth suite on Friday at lunch time shift change and brought so much passion and care and knowledge into the room. I learned so much about body work and together we supported and witness a mamma step into her power and birth her baby boy the way she dreamed off. I’m still teary every time I think about this birth! Pure magic ✨

Della’s birth story continued… After a discussion with our incredible midwife @shelley.m.taylor @mamatotomidwives we made the decision to transfer to Monash to have my waters broken. I felt calm and happy with that decision even though it meant letting go of our home birth. We drove in the sunshine, singing and listening to some hypnobirth tracks by @popthatmumma and met Shelley and @doulabb at Monash. Because we were a home birth transfer the OB team wanted to assess me before breaking my waters so we were told to wait and keep moving and doing what we were doing. Thankfully the change in scenery and extra walking and movement allowed my body to do its thing and my waters broke spontaneously all over Tim’s feet. From that point things happened “quickly” for me after the 16+ hours of activish labour I went from 6-10cm in a few hours. Using movement and water and Tim’s knuckles as pain relief 😅 by 445pm I was done and wanted a rest so we spoke about an epidural and what that meant in terms of the potential for cascade of intervention considering I had had a previous caesarean. Thankfully this was just me in transition and we made the decision for another VE with Lily the midwife at Monash telling me I was 10cm. I burst into tears and couldn’t believe it. Shelley gave me a pep talk reminding me of all the work I’ve been doing to get my body ready for this phase - the breathing, the internal work, the trusting my body. She told me to go and do a wee and within 10 mins of sitting on the toilet we could see Dellas head! And another 10 minutes later she was born, standing over the toilet with our team around us - and the hospital midwife making it just in the nick of time. The scene was different than I had envisioned but we managed our unmedicated, unaugmented VBAC surrounded by the most incredible team in a space filled with love 🥰 #vbac #wombtowellness #homebirth #positivebirthaustralia

14 years ago I became a mum, everything changed because of her 🌙 Going into my first labour ever I did zero research - I figured I’m usually good at stuff, i’ll be good at this 👀 - i had no idea about anything and it knocked my confidence not just in labour and birth but also in the early days of parenthood! I didn’t know what questions to ask and thank goodness for the midwife I had during transition cause I would have given up if not for her - her shift ended before Lu was born but she def was a lifesaver! I had to walk into the stormy ocean and ride those waves and if I could have done it differently I would have, but also I wouldn’t be the doula I am now if it wasn’t for her birth completely reshaping me. I dreamed about being a mamma my whole life and Luna is so much cooler and interesting and funny and talented and headstrong and smarter than I could ever had imagined - she is pure magic 🌙 Some of my fav photos of this incredible transition ✨ The other baby is my nephew Lukas - he is exactly 3 weeks younger - I love them in those batsuits haha 🤣

11 Jan 2016 … our third daughter Aurora Plum was born sleeping. 10 years is a long time and fuck my love for this little girl who we never got to take home has taught me so much. Rora, I miss you and think about who you would have been all the time. You changed me. You are the reason I’m a doula. Thank you for bringing us Zeddy - to help mend our hearts but also thank you for giving me strength in hard times & thank you for choosing me as your mamma: 20 weeks in my belly, hours in arms and forever in my heart. Love you little miss Plum, I wish you could have stayed ✨

Merry Christmas from my family to yours 🎄 This is the first Christmas we got to spend with my parents in 7 years and the first time they’ve ever had an Aussie Christmas - so lucky that all the Dunlops are just the best and welcomed them with open arms! I did not take any photos of the lunch and the food and the party 🙈
