Hi, I’m Kylee, co-founder of Ma Wisdom. I’m a doula, a lover of family life, deep conversations and quiet moments of connection, and someone who is usually happiest at home with my family or the pup-dogs. I’d describe myself as family-focused, compassionate, inquisitive and a bit of a hugger. One of the memories I carry most closely is of my grandma sitting beside me after dinner while the adults talked, gently stroking my hair as I rested my head in her lap. She didn’t need to entertain me or say much at all. It taught me that love is often found in the simplest moments; being present, available and safe enough for a child to curl up beside you and feel deeply cared for. Over the years, through both my work supporting families and my own life, I’ve seen how powerful the support of grandparents and extended family can be. I’ve also seen how changing times and differing approaches can sometimes create hurt or confusion, even when everyone is trying their best. What draws me to this work is the opportunity to honour the wisdom of older generations while helping people feel confident and connected in a world that looks very different from when they were raising children themselves. For me, this is heart work; supporting people as they move into grandparenthood, auntie-hood and new chapters of family life with care, curiosity and connection. Also, South America and Antarctica are still firmly on my bucket list; the only continents I haven’t yet explored. Thanks for being here 💜 . . . #MaWisdom #Grandescence #ConnectedFamilies #GrandparentSupport #SupportedParents

Hi, I’m Liz, co-founder of Ma Wisdom. I am a birth, postpartum and end of life doula. A mother to two who is always out and about with my husband, walking the streets or beaches around Sydney. I describe myself as a curious, social, family-focused, friendly and energetic. My dad died at a young 98 years of age, a couple of years ago. I didn’t truly appreciate the lessons, insight and wisdom I gained from his life till his death. I wished I had appreciated them more during his life! His life was one etched in simplicity – his family (lot’s of us), the garden gflowers and food), his community and his daily walks. He didn’t want for much more. Now, when life gets chaotic or overwhelming with the many tasks - I take a few breaths and remember how he chose to live his life. This is the heart and hopes that I bring to Ma Wisdom — a belief that family relationships matter, and that intergenerational bonds are worth strengthening. Thanks for being here 💜 . . . #MaWisdom #Grandescence #ConnectedFamilies #GrandparentSupport #SupportedParents

Why do babies wake so often? What’s a wake window? Newborn babies wake often because they are meant to. Their feeding patterns, sleep cycles and need for closeness are all part of normal early development. Understanding what’s happening can help things feel less overwhelming and leave you feeling more prepared and reassured. No more late-night googling 🤍 Our Baby Care and Support in the Early Weeks course is designed for both new parents and grandparents, bringing together practical support, current information and gentle guidance for those first six weeks with a newborn. Everything you need to know about the early weeks, all in one place. . . . . #grandparenting #parenting #newborn #newgrandparent #moderngrandparenting

There’s something deeply meaningful about a grandparent saying, “I’d love to understand how you’re doing this” Underneath it’s saying, “I want to understand YOU” Relationships grow when curiosity and care sit alongside experience. Our online grandparenting courses are designed to help bridge generational knowledge gaps, update information around newborn care and parenting, and support closer, more connected family relationships. For grandparents, chosen family and supporters wanting to stay close, informed and confident in this new chapter 🤍 . . . . #grandparenting #newgrandparent #moderngrandparenting #postpartumsupport familyconnection

One of the most beautiful things a grandparent can say is: “I’m learning.” Not because they do not already carry wisdom. But because learning says: “I care about your experience.” “I want to understand.” “I want to stay connected.” For many new parents, those words mean more than grandparents may realise. Sometimes the greatest gift is not having all the answers. It is being willing to stay open. ——— Jump into our online course to see what you could learn! $149 for our courses “Grandparenting Today: Navigating the Grandparent Parent Relationship“ or “Baby Care and Support In The Early Weeks” and $250 for the Grandparenting Today: Supporting Baby and Parents 💫 . . . #GrandparentingToday #ModernGrandparenting #GrandparentsCourse #NewGrandparents #GrandparentSupport ConsciousGrandparenting

Mother’s Day can hold so many layers 🤍 Love, gratitude, tenderness… and sometimes grief, distance, or longing. Today, we honour the many ways mothering lives in and around us — the mothers, grandmothers, chosen mothers, and those who hold, guide, and nurture in quiet, powerful ways. To those who are in the thick of it, to those who are remembering, to those who are becoming, and to those who are supporting from the side… You are part of this story. May today feel gentle, in whatever way you need it to. Love, Ma Wisdom xo . . . #HappyMothersDay #MothersDay2026 #Grandmothers #Mothers

Around the world grandparents are called by so many different names, though it doesn't matter what we answer too - we all have nothin' but love for our families! • Nonna / Nonno (Italian) • Oma / Opa (German, Dutch) • Abuela / Abuelo (Spanish) • Mamie / Papi (French variations) • Yiayia / Papou (Greek) • Nai Nai / Ye Ye (Chinese – paternal) • Lao Lao / Wai Gong (Chinese – maternal) • Obaachan / Jiichan (Japanese) • Halmoni / Harabeoji (Korean) • Dadi / Nana (Hindi – paternal/maternal) • Teta / Jido (Arabic) • Siti / Babu (Swahili) • Gogo / Mkulu (Southern Africa) • Nan / Pop • Nanna / Pa • Gran / Grandad • Koro / Kuia (Māori) • Mimi / Gigi • Lolly / Pops • Honey / Bear • Bibi / Zaza And of course… sometimes the most meaningful names are the ones that evolve naturally ...shaped by little voices learning to speak 💛 . . . #GrandparentsAroundTheWorld #NamesForGrandparents #GlobalGrandparents #GrandparentLove #MaWisdom

From the very beginning, babies are learning through relationship. They come to know the people who care for them through rhythm, warmth, responsiveness and repetition. Grandparents can build connection by being steady and emotionally available. This might look like: Singing the same song each visit or reading a favourite book. A new grandparent once said: “I want to help my daughter, but I’m afraid I’ll say the wrong thing.” And honestly, this is such a common feeling. So many grandparents want to be involved. They want to support. They want to offer care, wisdom and practical help. But they are also aware that parenting looks different now. So they pause. They second-guess. They worry that advice might land badly. They worry that offering help might feel like criticism. They worry that silence might seem uncaring. This is the tender middle place many grandparents find themselves in. Wanting to be close, but not wanting to overstep. Honestly, it's with so much love that you are in this place. The good news is that support does NOT need to be perfect to be meaningful. Sometimes it sounds like: “I’m here if you want to talk it through.” “Would it help if I did the washing while you rest?” “You’re doing a beautiful job.” “I trust you.” Often, what new parents need most is not more advice - it is steadiness, encouragement and practical care. This is exactly what we explore inside the Grandparent Boundaries & Communication Mini-Course. Grandparenting holds so much wisdom. The stories. The hands-on experience. The perspective that only comes from having lived through the intense, beautiful, exhausting years of raising children 🫶🏻 But modern grandparenting also asks for something else. Willingness. A willingness to listen. A willingness to understand. A willingness to support. At Ma Wisdom, we believe grandparents matter not because they have all the answers, but because they have love, steadiness and the capacity to become part of the village in a way that feels supportive for everyone. Modern grandparenting is not about stepping back, it is about jumping in head first ready to share what you know and learn something new. If you are stepping into grandparenting, or finding your way through this new season, you do not have to figure it all out alone. Ma Wisdom offers thoughtful courses and workshops to help you support your family with confidence, care and connection.
