Here’s a closer look at the baker character from our latest job! 🥖🥐🥨
We wanted the characters to have a clay-like feel, as if they were sculpted by hand, so we kept the shapes soft and slightly imperfect.
His face was drawn by hand (well.. on iPad but u get it), using brushes that mimic real pencils to give it a tactile, handmade feel.

SEB scene breakdown pt.3!!
We have a few scenes where things are being built; a city, houses, a bridge etc 🏘️
It’s all fun and easy to do digitally in 3D, but since we wanted it to feel handmade, we approached it in a more blocky and chunky way, assembling everything piece by piece.
We looked at a lot of real stop motion references to understand how things are physically built, and tried to bring that same way of thinking into our little world!

We wanted the whole video to feel handmade, with a stop motion-like feel to it! We used textures like clay, wood, and paper to give everything the feel of physical, miniature models.
Also framerate played a big part in making it feel like stop motion. After some experimenting with fps we landed on 9! Record low for us and our computers were happyyy

A little scene break down from our project with SEB 🧪
The computer factory was a fun and tricky one!! How do we show the process of building a computer in just ~10 seconds? We figured the best way to approach complex scenes was to move away from reality and instead build our own imaginary versions of them.
