GIANTS
I discovered 144 Jemmapes when I moved to Paris in 2016 and needed a place to hoop. I grew up in U.S. pickup culture, and what immediately stood out here was the level of play and the sense of community around this court. Older players mentored younger ones, people gathered on weekends for BBQs and rivalries, and the court became a place where I watched the popularity of the game I love explode in Paris.
Over the years, and in large part thanks to players like @mamayo75 , who has brought real attention to the court, Jemmapes has become a basketball landmark with players coming from all over the world to test their skill. Some of the players in this film Iâve known since they were young kids, and seeing the court evolve alongside their growth has been inspiring.
This place isnât just about competition (which is fierce). Itâs the joy. The noise. The humor. A place where the game brings people together and everyone is welcome.
GIANTS is a portrait of 144 Jemmapes, the people, and the culture thatâs grown around it.
This was a passion project in every sense and it could not have been made without the help of a crew close friends, old and new, of the players, and the support of my producers at Obvious.

The music video is dying. âcontentâ has become king. I understand this is a direct result of how we all consume media now. Quantity has trumped quality. I canât even knock it, videos are expensive and itâs hard to justify the returns when shit goes viral all the time for a fraction (if any) of the cost.
I will however, always be a fan of the visual arts so although I understand it Iâm a bit sad to see the diminishing of wild , original, imaginative, and yes sometimes expensive ideas lol.
It is for those reasons I want to highlight the process of the U-turn video and the incredible work of @iloobia and @doubidoubz .
We travelled 5 continents and shot on 35mm film, the rest of the process was a labor of love of which only @iloobia is capable of.
My manager @oakshades and @kianbroderwang took a trip to Brighton, UK to have a convo with the man and capture his process.
I hope this inspires any creatives or future creatives watching this.
âU-turnâ is out now on my YouTube.
