It is a great pleasure to have two of my film collage shorts playing at the MARCO La Boca Museum in Buenos Aires this May, organised by the wonderfully named Cine Oculta. I will be contributing ‘Films To Break Projectors’ and ‘Cinegraffic Score’ to the program.
‘The photo has been historically considered as the minimum unity of cinema. Photograph, plan, scene and sequence are articulated within a narrative machine that transforms images into movement and movement into representation. In traditional cinematography, the photo is permanently invisible: relegated to an imperceptible function of its own, together with other veins titled in each segment, constructs the continuous illusion of the world. Detaining one of these minimal fragments allows us to reveal an autonomous, expansive and sensitive territory.
In this new edition of the Cine Occulta cycle in MARCO, on Sunday 23 of May, there is an adjustment for the transmutation of the concept of the photo: think of it as a minimum unit, if not as a whole possible; Like a living room, a window abierta hacia mundos infinitos. After this slow cracking, intervening and changing conditions from what we see in the cinema, this image must already operate exclusively as a significant vehicle to convert it into the color of an irrepressible perception.’ #iloobia #filmcollage #celluloid
Enjoyed greatly the Synch Pulse film evening last night at The Rose Hill Brighton - an evening of experimental themed shorts curated by Brighton based film maker Ian Helliwell - and really delighted to have two of my film collage films on the visual menu, Kaleidosprocket and Cinegraffic Score. #iloobia #ianhelliwell #experimentalfilm
Having a massive clear up and clear out of the studio but needed some snaps of these tasty looking retro objects before they are cast into the void #iloobia #studioclearout
Delighted that my ambient short 'Transitory Geometries' is part of this months Mathēmatiká issue over on @labocine Originally made as an installation for the Oceanic Cities International Art Festival, Taiwan, held at Pingtung 1936 Tobacco Culture Base, Pingtung City in August 2025, the film depicts coastal sea defences along the East Sussex Coast in the South of England at moments of calm, revealing a temporal tranquility within the configurations in anticipation of the inevitable and untameable power of the sea. A reworking of the film will be part of a trilogy depicting three distinct visions of human constructed landscapes and the ecologies within for the forthcoming 'Fabricated Habitats' installation project currently in production. #iloobia #geometry #seadefences #installation
