Why have cotton when you can have silk? I think that’s right, I had to google the actual advert @cadburyuk to check it because my first renditions definitely had the wrong fabrics! Anyway, that’s neither there not there with where I was going with this whole thing! But the saying is very true. Why would you settle for less if better is out there. I had a planner saying something to me that I just love (and yes, you know you who are!) ‘A lol of cake designers can make a cake look good, but I’ve never found one who makes cakes taste as good as yours do, that’s why I chose you every time. Oh and they look pretty damn good too!’ Well that’s high praise indeed. So no reel today, just a plain old static picture of the most delicious cake. Chocolate Guinness with a cream cheese buttercream. If you know… you know. Now hands up if you’ve tried this beauty!

Isn’t she wonderful? I couldn’t resist this audio! The florist for this wedding was a family friend and she recommended a toffee, coffee and creams for this black tie wedding as black and white would have been too harsh for @gatestreetvenue and their backdrop and I’m glad that she did. They’re not colours I normally work with but they’re gorgeous don’t you agree?

Can you ever have too many flowers? Of course not! Personally I love them, sugar or fresh, I’m not worried, but have you ever tried to a realistic looking rose out of sugar? What do you think, have I managed it?

Did you see it? It’s coming! I am so excited to say that my new website is on it’s way very soon. It’s been a long time coming, all the planning and preparation and then wedding season happened so of course this took a back seat. But after the fiasco of the past week and losing my domain. Well that’s something different in itself! But I’m not going there today, too much stress anxiety and tears have been shed over that! Luckily I have had this in my back pocket which I have been getting set up. Just a few tweaks over the next few days, checking it all works and aligns together. But its coming and I am so excited to share it all with you.

I used to be a ‘I love sugar flowers, they’re my favourite and I only want to work with them' kind of person. Thats because that’s where all of this started, a little bit of faffing and a combination of youtube and a lot of tears! ‌ But over the years Dotty Rose has evolved and I work with all manner of different mediums, fresh flowers being one. And if I’m being truthful, fresh flowers are outweighting sugar by a lot this year! But I’m fine with it…even… do I say it…. I’m more team fresh at the moment shhhhh….. I’m sure that will change again by next month though!

I know this is topic is a little bit controversial…. favours. Are you having them? Some people love the idea of gifting these to their guests or using them as place names. ‌ Some clients think that they’re not needed and don’t worry about it. I say go for it, especially if they're french macarons. You know why? I make extra and eat them!

Do you want cake? Everyone wants cake! Even me, who isn’t a cake person (yes I know that sounds hilarious) but I could definitely devour a slice of this cake right now. I think I’ll opt for the white chocolate and raspberry. Yes please! Octobers boxes are being ordered now and include vanilla; lemon; chocolate fudge; gin and tonic; vanilla, peanuts and chocolate; lime and coconut. Can we just have a little bit of appreciation for my favourite fondant cake I’ve made. It was simple, classic and oh so pretty. I can’t even put my finger on why it’s my favourite. But it is… and it’s out there! But of course I tell everyone I don’t have favourites!

This cake has received so much love everywhere, it’s high time it received a place on the grid! The brief was to match the sugar flowers to the fresh, which is always tricky when you don’t see them in person. I mean what if they are slightly off and just don’t look right! But I was so pleased when Caroline from @hayloftfloral showed me the collection she had set aside. They were perfect! I feel like starting a petition for more cake meadows, what do you think?
