YINDYSSAGH!!! Here is a little taster of what to expect when accessing the 'Mind Your Language!' Exhibition, for blind and low vision visitors. No stone was left unturned when making this exhibition fully accessible for the BLV community. It was an absolute honour to work alongside @culturevannin and I look forward to making more exhibitions accessible in the future. Because no-one should miss out on the opportunity to access culture, art and heritage. The exhibition is running from 25th April to 4th October, and I really hope it makes a difference to people with sight loss, no matter how big or small.

MIND YOUR LANGUAGE! 🇮🇲 It was incredible to work alongside the lovely Ruth from @culturevannin to make their exhibition of the Manx language accessible for the blind and low vision community. Dot & Type provided: Large Print Guide Braille Guide Tactile & Simplified Images Braille labelling Audio Description (with Ruth as voiceover) Everything in the exhibition has alt text description within the guides, too! The exhibition is within the Manx Museum and launches tomorrow and will run until October! So be sure to pop down. I had so much fun working on this project. And to say I felt a real sense of pride to be Manx, whilst working on this, was an understatement. Yindyssagh!

Story So Far × Dot & Type Accessible Stationery Tasha & I are super excited to announce our new collaboration to you all! We will be working together to offer couples bespoke wedding stationery inclusive to people who are blind and visually impaired. Alongside my printed stationery, Tasha can provide a braille overlay, full braille versions and also large print alternatives of any of my stationery items. We’ll work closely to ensure the whole package is beautiful, inclusive and unique to you. We believe passionately that having a visual impairment should not be a barrier to experiencing beautiful design and print. Last year I was approached by Serena from Dashery events at a wedding fair at the Hospitium in York. She was looking for like-minded suppliers to be involved in a styled shoot, highlighting the importance of making your wedding a safe and accessible space for all guests. Serena pictured the shoot being vibrant & drenched in colour with disco vibes. I didn’t need another excuse to get my collection of glitter balls out of the loft! I was completely on board!! 🪩 When I started out as a wedding florist in 2013, accessibility and inclusivity was always a bit of an afterthought. Today things are definitely improving, but we’ve still got a long way to go. Companies like Dashery events hope to make your search for accessible and inclusive wedding suppliers enjoyable and stress free. My latest inclusive supplier spotlight is @dotandtype who offer professional braille and large print modification service for people with disabilities. Tasha is an Accessible Format Specialist who passionately believes that accessibility is a right not a privilege. Tasha can create braille overlays or printed materials for a range of needs including, of course for weddings! Tasha did this for our accessibility styled shoot last month and I was blown away. Tasha worked closely with @storysofarstationery to ensure that the overlays fit seamlessly on the printed menus, place cards etc. and also printed me fully braille and large print scripts all without any compromise on the aesthetic or the impact of the gorgeously bright and bold style. Please do check Dot and Type out for anything braille or large print, whether wedding related or otherwise. LET'S EAT CAKE Not braille themed, but I just can't get over how stunning this cake was. @badcherrybakery It was just one of the beautiful details included on such a beautiful day. The accessibility shoot was truly a special day. I've personally never witnessed such a passion for accessibility from a group of individuals. Every single person was there for the same reason, 'let's make places and things accessible for all'. It was an amazing thing to be a part of. @dashery_events And you know what... I say the cake isn't braille themed... But the cake was super tactile AND bright. So that would be incredible for some people with low vision. As for the disco balls, that would be great for people with light perception too! The way the lights refracted off the tiny mirrors was beautiful 😍🩷🧡

🌸 Accessibility-led Styled Shoot 🌸 This shoot was all about highlighting different accessible elements that could be incorporated into a wedding seamlessly, without compromising on style. I first started thinking about accessibility in the context of weddings when I began planning my own. It’s imperative to me and my partner that our son gets to enjoy the day rather than simply endure it. I started thinking about ways we could make this happen - a ‘quiet zone’ where he can regulate with his jigsaws and books if he needs to. Somewhere he can go if it all feels too much, but also somewhere that me or my partner wouldn’t mind spending parts of the day too. Our wedding hasn’t happened yet, but for us this quiet zone will look like a tipi filled with giant cushions and fairy lights. This got me thinking about all the different ways you could incorporate accessible elements into your wedding day - whether that’s braille menus, accessible signage or simply choosing a genuinely accessible venue. The needs of every couple and their guests will look different, but when accessibility is considered from the beginning and woven in rather than added at the end, it becomes part of the design - not a clunky afterthought.  I’m so proud of these photos and everything the shoot represents. The Hospitium, York, Accessible Styled Shoot part 1 Wow, just wow! What gorgeous photos, from an equally gorgeous shoot 🩷🪩🧡 I was absolutely thrilled to be part of this styled shoot to promote accessibility for all weddings. Organised by the wonderfully positive Serena @dashery_events who specialises in event planning with accessibility at the heart. It was a pleasure collaborating with Tasha from @dotandtype on the stationery, ensuring that any guests who are blind or experience low vision are catered for, with braille overlays, full braille or large print options, whilst also maintaining the visual theme of the day.
