Welcome to the world Oscar Bo-Wing Wan my 🌈 baby. You feisty little thing, kept us on our toes the last two weeks. Autumn is so excited to be a big sister. But I don’t know if she’s willing to celebrate other people’s birthdays 🎂. 🤣

Rest in paradise my 🐉 boy Atticus Wan. It’s been a day since I found out you left us two weeks ago. I thank you for not showing me signs of your passing. You gifted us two blissful weeks because you knew mommy and baba was in the middle of opening our restaurant and you didn’t want us to grieve you during this crucial time. I’m sorry that we never got to meet, and although your life was short, know that you were already loved by so many. You’re my forever baby boy, Autumn’s little brother, and we will miss you every day of our lives.

Welcome to the world Autumn Bo-Yi Wan. Your middle name Bo -Yi means kind hearted, precious, a jewel or a gem. Everyone of those descriptions are so fitting for you. You’re our precious little gem and we’re already so in love with you. I can tell you’re going to be a daddy’s girl

For years, MSG was treated like something to fear, but much of that stigma came from flawed science and anti-Asian bias, not fact. Tomorrow, @dooorie of @makfamdenver is taking that conversation to the @tedxcu stage. She’ll be breaking down how one ingredient became so misunderstood despite being responsible for the umami found naturally in foods like tomatoes, mushrooms, and cheese. Thank you @tranwills for inviting me to speak on Bad News Babes Social Club’s panel today. Asian pride all day everyday! I can’t believe me living my life and doing things my way has turned me into a leader in this community. I’m still trying to figure out what that all means and learning how to show up for people in a way that makes impact. But 2026 is the year I’m going to break out of my shell.

Autumn turned 4 last month 🥹. My little Pisces girl is sweet and sensitive, but she’s no pushover, and she hates to lose if you can’t tell. Loves reading stories to her little brother

When the message first hit my inbox from @tedxcu I honestly thought it was scam/joke. I’ve seen my fair share of Ted Talks, but never thought I would be giving one myself. The people that gave Ted Talks are leaders in their industry. They know what they’re talking about, and they also speak so eloquently. Neither of those things represent me. Trying to own that I’m no longer the same girl that moved out of Jersey city almost 7 years ago has been challenging. I think it’s because that’s my safe place, a time when I was responsible for nothing but myself, I didn’t stand for or cared to advocate for anything or anyone. Imposter syndrome is a bitch, and 2026 is the year of learning to accept that I’m no longer the same woman I was in 2019. Time to own my boss bitch era. Im doing my first TED TALK ever! This year’s theme in On the Contrary. I’ll be talking about the controversy around MSG and my own journey of discovery and acceptance. Very much similar to my journey and acceptance to own that I’m THAT Bitch now 👠💅🙋🏻‍♀️. April 4th at CU Boulder. Come see me live! Link to tickets in my bio!

This award symbolizes the dedication our entire team has on maintaining the flavor quality of the food and providing a great hospitality experience to our guests. MAKfam is the restaurant it is today because of the people that work here. Every plate, every cocktail, every smile in the dining room happens because the team shows up every day with their heart, hustle, and creativity. From the kitchen to the floor to the bar, the crew pours so much of themselves into making this space what it is. We know working at MAKfam is not a walk in the park, the long days, hot kitchens, and busy nights, but they do it with compassion, pride, a genuine care for each other and our guests. Thank you team for bringing our vision to life, for carrying our third culture forward, and for making this place feel like home for everyone who walks through the door. With gratitude and appreciation, thank you TEAM. This award is for y’all!

𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝗮𝗶 𝗟𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗲𝘀𝗮𝗿 - house made caesar dressing, parmesan, milk bun croutons. This dish showcases the experiences of Asian Americans. As a restauranteur and chef operating a Chinese restaurant, we often get called out for not being authentic or traditional. What is worst are the comments, “You can tell it’s not authentic because there are no Asians working here. They make food for the American palate.” No! We make food for everyone, we create dishes that speaks to our Asian American experiences and connect with others who share them. We grew up being called JOOK SING by our Chinese elders, and then among our American peers, we were seen as not American enough. We never fully belonged to either culture. That’s the reality of the Asian American identity: we live in the third culture. So when people question our authenticity, it cuts deeper and it pulls us right back to those memories of being neither. Yes our food is not Authentically Chinese, nor is it traditional. It’s authentic to our experiences, and we take inspiration from our traditional dishes and create something that is our own. Our food isn’t made for Americans, it’s a reflection of the Asian American experience (which exists, so don’t diminish it). Our food is for the people. Just like Wu-Tang is for the children! 📸 @jfierberg
