It's the fifth Halfoween, which is pretty fuggin crazy to me because I remain surprised that such a wonderful venue let us do the one. Halfoween has become the biggest night of the year for our little squeezebox band and it's a real culmination of everything our developing community offers--we combine the musicians we love with the performers we love working with and stuff it full of the games and silliness that make for a one of a kind evening, and smack a pumpkin on it. I drew this poster this year to really bring the attention back to the Rockwell, a venue we love being in and the city of Somerville that's been so kind to us. Also tentacles.
Come to the Rockwell for the fifth Halfoween, one night only! It's a spooky good time and I just dropped a bunch of money at Michael's to make some ridiculous activities! Let us see your pretty face in the crowd, Saturday, May 2nd!
Full disclosure I drew this spectral moose a few years ago for inktober but he's back and this time colored for this sick ass show we've got coming up at the sil! We've actually never played in allston, weirdly, so it'll be great to play there. Come check us in @yourfriendsinhell out! We're excited to be with @cedfb and @gregrekus , it's poised to be a great show and we're breaking out a new cover we have no business playing.
Sometimes your buddy needs a spin on Bruce Springsteen's Tunnel of Love for an upcoming Valentine's Day show, and sometimes you realize you've been training your whole life for this moment.
Hey, this Saturday, why not go see @badideausa , @daphneblueunderworld , my dear friends in @thoumercilessgraves , and of course @coffin_salesman at O'Brien's for a romantic evening you can't pass up? I'll be there. And I'll kiss you. On the lips.
I do love whenever I get to make some art for a Friday the 13th but I especially love it when I get to make it for a rad-ass show that includes those, nice, attractive people in @yourfriendsinhell ! This Friday we're playing at phenomenal Faces Brewing, with some of our best band buddies in @squallpsycho420@theinnsmouthlook and new friends, @saeddyr !
We're going to be playing some fun spooky jams of course, but we'll also celebrate the pseudo-holiday with a game of Boston Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction. Can you guess the true stories of haunted local history from the fake ones? Guess right, and win a limited addition pin!
9 years ago we made this cake for one of our classic Friday the 13th parties. I think often about the old party crew; having big ol' parties at our place was a great way to stay connected with such a wonderful community of people, and I feel very lucky to have contributed to so many fun memories and lasting friendships.
Covid kind of squashed the party scene--it was a big catalyst for a lot of people to move away, stop drinking, and do all the things that I'm proud of everyone for. But admittedly I had started thinking even in the fall of 2019 that it was time for us to find ways to open up those friendly party doors to new people who needed friends and good times of their own.
So I'm very glad that Your Friends in Hell can help that party spirit stay alive at our shows, like this great show on Friday the 13th, one month from today! We're excited to share the stage with new and old friends, and the only thing that could make it better would be to see some friendly faces in the audience, too. At Faces, no less!
Come chill with us a month from today for a rad time, we'll play our spooky jams and pack in a few surprises, too.
Happy New Year, and happy new album drop to the @theelectricdugans ! Your Friends in Hell played our first show with these long time pals and I'm pumped to have put together this album cover for them! Combining my love for Indiana Jones and for these unstoppable maniacs was a real treat. Check it out wherever you stream your tunes!
For the third year in a row im honored to make the cover image for Miracle on Comm. Ave, a compilation of Christmas (and other) songs, assembled by the great and powerful @squallpsycho420 ! I'm really glad I can contribute to this amazing project that raises money for @childsplaycharity , which donates video games to kids who need an extra special Christmas. Your Friends in Hell are obviously honored to provide a song for the compilation, an honor we systematically squander by submitting the dumbest shit imaginable. It's a real treat.
And if you want to celebrate with us in person, you can do so tonight! We're playing the release show, tonight, at an undisclosed location we'll tell you about if you send me a message. It's gonna be a fun show for us, and we've got some surprises that should excite even the most jaded well meaning friend who sees my band frequently out of obligation. So hit me up and I'll give you the details and it'll be a great show!
It may be after Halloween but IIIIiiii forgot I didn't post this here, so. Behold! The track art I made for our newest single, Honest Living. There's a bit more going on than meets the eye here because I wanted to make something in the same art style of our upcoming album, Songs for your Halloween party, which we're working on and should be out in the coming months. I also wanted to pay tribute to a certain 1979 iconic goth song that inspired me a lot when writing Honest Living. This one was fun to put together and I hope you like the art, and the song.
It was only a few short years ago that I thought the idea of having our very own Halloween show was a distant dream, but here we are back for another Monsters at the Midway.
For those of you wonderful friends who knew me before the band, you know that our Halloween and Halfoween parties were the crown jewels of my social life. And though covid may have killed those parties, I'm very proud of what we've made out of these events. We bring in the games and activities and controlled chaos of a good party with some of the coolest, spookiest bands and performers in town, and I really think you can't do better for a mid-week Halloween activity. Having a great Halloween party is special, but opening it up to strangers who are looking for their own community, for their own Halloween treat, well that's really been a gift for me.
So come join us for Halloween! I wanna see all your pretty faces and cool costumes and show you my song about Dracula.
@thedarlingnikki6 always puts the work in when it's time to flyer, and it's always a nice surprise for me to walk around and see my art out in the streets. Very happy to have done this illustration for the annual @cambervillezombiepubcrawl , Saturday October 25th! Get yourself green and to the crawl this year for a good time!
We saw a bunch of locations from my favorite movie, Amelie, which is very French but not pretentious, I swear. It's very funny and charming. And there's even boobs in it.
