‘Interlace of Continuity’, my installation for the Design and Innovation Exhibition, is a meditation on heritage, innovation, and the quiet transmission of craft and design across generations. At its heart is “The Continuation of Genevieve”, a latch-hook crochet carpet my grandmother began, now carried forward in my hands. Placed atop her original weaving table, which remains untouched as a relic of our time spent together, it stands as a symbol of presence and absence, embodying the patience required to create something both useful and deeply meaningful. In an era where mechanization has overtaken traditional craft, this work calls for a return to the slow, intentional artistry of our ancestors, preserving not just objects, but memory and history.
Honored to share this moment with the Honorable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy,
@honhannatumusawa , and immense gratitude to
@titiogufere for curating such a remarkable exhibition.
Thank you to everyone who came last week. ✨
