Because things don’t have to be super complicated when camping.
I pre make a lot of food before we go so that we can just spend more exploring and being together when we are out.
Things would have looked a bit different on this trip but silly me forgot the eggs 😂 so that kind of messed up breakfasts but I brought enough for two mornings of protein oatmeal so that was okay!

Motherhood has changed me in every possible way. I’m endlessly grateful that I get to be her mom, and constantly in awe of the strength, softness, patience, and love that mothers carry every single day. What a privilege it is to love someone this deeply.
She’s slowed me down in the best ways. Made me notice the little things more. Made me softer, stronger, more present. Somehow motherhood can feel both incredibly overwhelming and incredibly grounding all at once, and I think that’s part of what makes it so beautiful. I had no idea what I was in for and gosh, I just love it so much.
I look at moms everywhere now with so much admiration. The invisible load, the constant giving, the love that exists in a million tiny moments no one else sees. We are all just doing our verrryyy best while loving these little humans with everything we have, and honestly, mothers are some of the most incredible people in the world.
Happy (early) Mother’s Day to all of you. I’m logging off for the weekend to enjoy tomorrow with family and then off to work Sunday. I hope you all have a beautiful weekend.

A little April recap.
We were so busy but got out for a few camping adventures, ran, celebrated Easter with family, played Laser Tag for my brothers 40th, my mom sent me some pics from when I was a kid, and ended it with taking some sweet Mother’s Day pics with friends.
I’m hoping I can breathe a bit more in May, get some spring cleaning done, plant the rest of my seeds, and enjoy the sunshine. ☀️

Soooonnn, friends. ⛺️ ⛰️ 🥾
Camping is my absolute favourite activity in the whole world and these last 5 summers of camping with my girl have been ✨everything✨.
Each summer has been so differently than the last and two things can be true about that fact…
1- I am heartbroken thinking that I’ll never get to experience little baby Aster snuggles in the tent, or toddler chaos at camp, or little kid commentary on the trail AND 2- I am wildly excited to see what this summer has in store for us. Aster is so much fun and she can just do more and more and go further each year and it’s the highlight of my life getting to watch her experience the world.
(And I am planning to just camp with friends with babies and toddlers a lot so I can also get my fill in that regard 😉)

I get asked this occasionally from people and while I do think it’s a question best left unasked, I don’t mind answering it.
For us, it’s a choice and it’s just always been what we’ve wanted. For a long time, the main reason was that when Reid was an NHL ref, he was gone 20-25 days a month during hockey season and there was just no way I could fathom having more. And then when we found ourselves with him home all the time, our choice just never changed.
I know that I’m the kind of mother I want to be right now because I have the capacity to pour into her, while also taking care of myself. We thrive as a family of 3 and I just love our little life.
I do feel a pull towards fostering and maybe that’s in the cards for us one day but for now, I am just so grateful for our little family and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
