How did Los Angeles become the epicenter of Quebradita in the 1990s? Music, like animals, migrates regardless of border politics and imaginary cultural boundaries. MAMBO ANÍMALON is a look into the migration of songs from Honduras, Colombia, & Cuba, traveling north to Jalisco, Sinaloa, Nayarit, and landing in Los Angeles.

Last October I visited Monterrey and the city blew me away. From @j_balleza taking me to his childhood taco spot (con tortillas de harina recién hechas), to playing cumbias rebajadas on a rooftop on Avenida Aztlan, El Topo Chico in the background (y echándome una buena peda en Pilos Bar).
I fell in love with Monterrey and all the homies that took me in with open arms. This cassette is a homage to La Ciudad de las Montañas and all of the people that make the city one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. Mil gracias a Sonido Sabotaje, Sonido Dueñez, Chuy Vallenato, El Golo, Eduardo Soto y Diana Bustamante y a todos mis amigos que siguen mostrando que El Sonido es Amistad.
