It was an honor to be a part of the Kukulu Kumuhana keiki camp in Waipi’o these past few weeks at Kalae Momona. I was invited to teach the kids how to kui ā€˜Ulu Pa’i’ai and turn it into Pa’i’ai Pizza on day 3. I had so much fun I stayed for most of the remainder of the program, helping in any way I could. Seeing the kids have so much fun nature w no screens was so heart warming. Everyday was a new opportunity from mālala ā€˜Äina projects like restoring ancient lo’i terraces at Nāpo’opo’o w Kulia to leaning how to weave Hala in a traditional fashion. The whole experience felt like a dream and I can’t wait to be one of the Makua next year and the kids how to make even more ā€˜Ono food😌

Ho’omaikai’i to Mr. & Mrs. Morita🌺 Nikki and Keith are two of the most kind hearted and all around amazing people I’ve ever met, it was so special to celebrate with them this weekend. From making flower arrangements in the garage the night before w the Ka’a’awa Ohana, to the joyful giggles of all the kids catching chickens, it was a privilege to be part of such an incredible gathering of cool people from around the world. Nani Kalalau, he ā€˜Äina pali Beautiful Kalalau, a land of cliffs So stoked to have to privilege of spending 6 days at one of my favorite places with 7 rad friends. Backing in 57 pounds of gear along the most lethal trail in the country made it all the more sweet to sleep at the base of these gorgeous ridges. I will forever love showering in the waterfall that flows onto the sand and simply staring at how phenomenally beautiful the scenery is in every direction. Shoutout to @kevinlammer for timing the tides perfectly as it allowed us to swim to Honopu at sunrise with ease. @joshin_around38 and I caught some Tahitian prawns and 3 spot crabs (see pic of the Kalalau Crab Curry I made). Mahalos to @kaylyntrenchard for adding me onto your permit. The whole trip was epic but the cherry on top was getting rides from the legend himself, Frank (@howsdisguy ā€˜s fada) who even joined us at Duke’s for our celebration dinner. #quid

Ended up scoring well overhead Nakuru Kuru Malagi (Thundercloud reef, aka ā€˜Cloudbreak’) w @beejaycuzzzin for international surf day. I got the best wave of my year at pumping Wilkes w just a few other nice people out. Couldn’t have asked for a better day! Grateful for the awesome crew at @fijisurfco for taking us out to the zones! They are all so friendly and are super knowledgeable about all the nuances that go into navigating the reefs around Tavarua. VinakašŸ¤™šŸ¼

I’ve heard my grandma talk about scoring sick waves in Fiji my whole life and I finally got a taste today at Hideaways🌓 So stoked to surf Tavarua the next 4 days! Feels likes Christmas Eve as kid😌

I had the pleasure of backpacking over 30 miles along the Hāmākua coast the past 5 days with amazing group of new and old friends. It’s hard to put into words how incredibly beautiful it was to be at the base of 4 waterfalls that tower 2600ft overhead. We somehow had all the weather conditions come together and were able rock hop and push through crashing waves to Laupahoehoe Nui. We had the privilege of walking the kings trail to get to the far end of the land peninsula. It was so special to see this incredible piece of history still so intact. We got to meet the gentleman who preserves the trail, restores the ancient rock walls, and farms a gorgeous array of fruits and vegetables (predominantly canoe crops like kalo and mai’a). Big mahalos to @kevinlammer for planning this unforgettable tripšŸ¤™šŸ¼ swipe all the way tot he last photo to see @rileyzpix ā€˜s incredible moonrise long exposure masterpiece.

10 months after moving to Kona I’ve finally changed my Insta name. No, I didn’t get a PhD. Hippocrates did say ā€˜Let food be thy medicine’ and now that I am a full time private chef I guess one could say am a doctor of sorts. In a world of nutrient-less inflammatory foods that we are not connected with I have decided to follow my passion of preparing nutrient rich food grown on island by local farmers. It brings me so much joy to have the privilege of creating a unique culinary experience with exclusively local proteins and the best fruits n veggies these incredible islands have to offer. I’ve never been happier and am so grateful for all my family, friends, and clients that have helped make my dream a reality. My heart has been overflowing with gratitude every day and it feels euphoric. Ok rant overāœŒšŸ¼here’s a picture of me in my happy place, hiking out Kaupō gap last week. I couldn’t stop smiling; the scenery was absolutely breathtaking the whole hikešŸ™ƒ

Another phenomenal trip to my favorite place on earth šŸŒŽ so grateful for PalikÅ« cabin for sheltering us for three days while backpacking from the summit of Haleakalā out Kaupō gap. ā€˜Ä€kala berries were plentiful. More waterfalls were flowing then I had ever seen. I pulled large invasive blackberries from the roots to ensure the beauty of the endemic ecosystem is preserved for future generations. We shared onolicious meals together and laughed till we cried. Big mahalos to @beejaycuzzzin for picking us up perfectly on time w ā€˜land of the rainbow’ beers and blueberry pie!

Paddling the entire Na Pali coast over 4 days was even more amazing than I had imagined. Scored fun lil waves, foraged the biggest squash I’ve ever seen, caught tons of Tahitian prawns, had killer breath work sessions in the giant lava cave, and laughed the whole way through. Thanks to these legends for making it such an epic trip @noa_auweloa @bad_sine_ @travis.hackett
