Vinyl!
Pre-Order for the vinyl edition of ‘Fata Morgana’ is now live on bandcamp (link in my bio).
The vinyl edition includes lovely photography by the very talented
@groovygracee shot on Lake Ontario this winter, as well as a full lyric sheet (with personal notes throughout) and some paintings from the batch I’ve been developing this year (more on those later!).
Making this record was unlike any other I’ve made thus far — I had just finished an enormous batch of new music with
@tingalayo , signed a contract with
@histficrecs and setup my little studio in Rochester when I was invited to write a song for a film by director
@grace.alwyn . The prompt couldn’t have come at a better time, and instead of one song, I wrote ten. I wrote steadily, unhurriedly, patiently and six months later I brought the recordings to Thomas at his studio in
@reservoirstudiosnyc . It felt like a record to me but I needed the stamp of approval from my friend. He gave it, wholeheartedly, and for a week we worked together to add more color to the recordings, and mixed the record then and there.
We played the album for
@fritzmyers and
@stevesalad at Historical Fiction, and decided unanimously to respect the momentum of this unique little record. It’s my first record to be released since 2016’s Pigeonheart, and the first full length to be released on
@histficrecs , and the first peak into the chemistry of
@tingalayo and me.
We have SO much more to share. And we’re laying the tracks down in front of this moving train, so thank you for your patience as we sort out live shows, more merch, etc. But this whole process so far has been about accepting the grace of others, believing in one’s unique process, letting go of expectations and comparisons in times like this. Hope this record finds a way in with you.
😘
