As a mixer, it’s a true blessing to work with artists like @dlylez who have great mic technique and vocal control. I often describe it as if they are compressing and EQing themselves because of their hyperawareness of range and tonality in relation to the way the mic is picking them up. It makes my job a lot easier by freeing me up to spend more time being creative as opposed to being technical first in the mixing process.
